Thank you very much for your interest in Teach For America and for the time and effort you invested in interviewing with us. I am very sorry to inform you that, after careful consideration of your candidacy, we will not be extending you an offer to join the 2015 corps.
We know that all applicants invited to a final interview display potential. When reviewing applications, we look for individuals whom we believe best exhibit some of the traits we’ve found in our most successful teachers. We use your application, online activity, transcripts, online recommendation forms, phone interview, and all parts of the interview day as lenses through which to view evidence related to our admissions criteria. These criteria have been developed over time and help us identify those most likely to be successful in our particular program.
As you heard on your final interview day, Teach For America is just one path to work toward educational equity. We hope that you will consider other organizations that share our commitment to this work, or consider reapplying to the corps in later years. Many applicants have found that they were able to submit a stronger application after participating in programs that built their strengths and leadership skills. To assist you in your pursuit of this work, we encourage you to visit our interactive opportunity guide where you can explore other non-profit organizations, discover new teaching programs, and learn about opportunities in your region. If you agreed to our partner release on the application, you may be hearing from some of our partner organizations about other opportunities in the educational reform movement.
Finally, I am sorry that we will not be able to provide individual feedback on admissions decisions. We understand that this can be frustrating given the amount of effort you have invested in your application. While we wish we could give specific feedback to all applicants, unfortunately, we do not have the resources to handle the volume of potential requests. Although this email may bring disappointment, I hope that your experience with Teach For America thus far has been positive. If you would like to share any anonymous feedback on our admissions process, we welcome your reflections and suggestions here.
Again, thank you for the energy you invested in our admissions process. I wish you the best in your future endeavors.

My heart goes out to all the applicants that did not receive the news they wanted to hear today. I always say that the best is yet to come! We never know why things happen but I believe it’s always for a reason. I know it took a lot to share your news and I just want to say a huge good luck to your future plans! To have come this far ya’ll are gonna kill everything else your hands touch or you set your minds to, especially if you are so passionate about education
To those that didn’t get an offer, I truly understand what you are going through… asking the “why not me?” “what am i missing?” “why…why…why”… I know it is difficulty to accept knowing that YOU can make a difference… that YOU can move students to their fullest potential… that YOU can influence students to become successful students… and that YOU can be a successful educator. Maybe Teach for America is not the platform for us to pursue and complete that mission at this very moment, but hold yourself up straight… don’t lose confidence and think you are NOT the leader TFA is looking for… and BELIEVE in your own abilities…
when I received my rejection, i felt like i fell short of what they are looking for… that I didn’t have enough leadership, that I didn’t have the POTENTIAL to become a successful educator… I have dug deep and thought that once I have accepted those notions… I have FAILED the future students I will eventually encounter… improve yourself… and don’t let this decision negatively influence your future directions. WE GOT THIS!
Elementary and SPED were my preferences and I have the most experience in those areas but outside of those, English is my best subject so I am excited about that too!
@fingerscrossedt I think the only reason I was assigned Miami is because I had a special circumstance and was already moving there! Awww man! Jacksonville is just as amazing and is actually the largest city in FL so you are gonna love it there. I go there all the time!
@tc1981 I was highly surprised with Mississippi ! It was my least preferenced place. However, I did get my highly preferred subject/grade level. Either way, I am very grateful for the opportunity.
