Teach for America 2015 Corps

So I was going through the final interview prep PowerPoint that they have online and it mentioned reviewing the audio clip from the online activity… Did I miss something or did anyone else not get audio stuff?

@xomandy122ox I did not get an audio clip in my online activity. However, last year when I went through the app process I did have an audio clip. It might just be a weird blip on this year’s app that they forgot to fix. Kind of like a lot of our final notifications saying that “based on your application, you have been moved directly to the final interview,” although we had participated in the phone interviews.

Good luck to everyone interviewing this week!!! :slight_smile:

I haven’t been on here in a while. I’ve been super busy but definitely wanted to let you guys know I completed my final interview today!!! I felt as if I did good but you never know lol.

My experience…

For one, the interviewers were very welcoming! I enjoyed myself today. You get to see different teaching styles while each Candidate do their lesson. It was as bad as I thought though. It was differently a very relaxed and open environment. Be yourself and show plenty of personality.

Hi all! Just finished my final interview today and just wanted to let everyone know how enjoyable of an experience it was. Yes I said ENJOYABLE! While I was a bit stressed before teaching my lesson, 30 seconds in it was all gone and it was smooth sailing from there. I definitely recommend practicing your timing, if nothing else. A lot of people ran out of time at the end of their lessons. Next, we moved on to the group activity which sparked some great conversations. Finally, we learned more about the program from our interviewers, and were able to ask any burning questions we had. The final interview was way less stressful than I had originally believed it would be. It was very similar to the phone interview except it highlighted things that were not mentioned on the phone.

Overall I had a great time. Now we wait!

@Hockeykid16 we had the same experience. Mine was very friendly and warm feeling. Definitely enjoyed myself as well. Where was your interview? Mine was in GA. I would agree as well, the final interview is very relaxed. The phone interview felt tougher!

Congrats to those who rocked their interviews today and good luck to everyone else! I’m interviewing tomorrow and pretty excited. :)

@iTeachbio I was in Boston! Also, I never got a chance to get my interviewer’s information so I am currently unable to send her a thank you/follow up email. I am kinda getting nervous about this. Any advice about what to do here?

I honestly do not know what to do! Sorry.

I just finished my interview and it was awesome. My interviewer even said that he wished his teacher had explained chemistry like I did.

@hockeykid16‌ I didn’t have chance either.

I had a great interview as well. I had them laughing and really engaged. The day a lot more relaxed than I thought

It so exciting to hear that everyone’s interview went well. I had mine today and feel that it went well, minus a poster flub during my sample teach. I had anticipated having a full white board or chalk board so I had made 4 posters that I wanted to hang, however, we only a easel with a small whiteboard on it. Figuring out the logistics of how to hang 4 posters on the tiny board in 1 minute was unnerving, but my interviewer said it was fine during the 1 on 1, but who really knows. I was able to teach all of my lesson and assess so I feel that may work in my favor. Of course I’m rethinking everything I said though and absolutely dreading these next weeks waiting for the decision.

@hockeykid16‌ were you at the TFA office? I have mine there tomorrow!

@inspirechange7‌ I’m sure you did great! Plus, there’s no way to undo what happened and you did your best with what you had, so you just have to hope for the best! :)

@xomandy122ox yes I was at the TFA office. It was a nice little spot for the interviews! Good Luck!

Just had my interview!! It was truly such a great experience and just further reinforces the fact that interviewing is definitely the most enjoyable part of the TFA application process. I really loved my interviewer, she made me feel so at home and I was really able to connect with her during our one on one. Speaking with and getting to know the other applicants was also awesome!

Can’t wait until notification day! Fingers crossed for everyone :smiley:

@hockeykid16‌ awesome! Thanks!

Had my final interview on Monday. I thought it went well, but the interviewer was definitely hard to read… she kept saying in response to my answers during the one-on-one interview “that makes a lot of sense…” and I couldn’t tell if that’s something she just says to everyone or if she really liked my responses. I don’t know if I got in or not, but the interview itself was a positive experience, and I have no regrets. I don’t want to get my hopes up and assume that I got in so we’ll just wait and see. As October 30th draws nearer I just want to wish everyone that applied the best of luck — the children of this country need passionate and motivated teachers to help them achieve all of their great potential and it is my hope that the very best are selected for the job! Really though, I’m starting to get super nervous and beginning to replay all of the responses in my head… growing very uneasy with anticipation!!! How about everyone else? How was the interview reflecting back on it?

I had my final interview this past Monday as well. My group had only 6 people and both of my interviewers were incredibly comforting and laid back. I got super nervous during my lesson plan because my poster fell down, but I managed to get through everything. As far as the one on one, it started off well and once I was able to really share my story and explain why I wanted to join TFA, I feel like it got so much better. My interviewer was also hard to read, but she ended the interview by saying TFA would be happy to have me. I don’t know if she was just being polite or what, but it definitely has been going through my mind a lot! Only time will tell :-S

Congrats everyone and welcome to the club! Reflecting on my interview, I’m still feeling pretty confident and feel that there’s nothing I could’ve done better, which is always my goal.

…Did anyone else apply for transitional funding?
