I actually haven’t gotten my aid package yet, anyone else in the same boat?
@awesomebins Can I say “nany nany boo boo. We told you so?” Haha. Congrats!!
@smilingsunflower & @shellijax223 congratulations guys!!! I don’t know how personal messaging works on this thing or if that feature is even available but I’d love to exchange info with you guys- even if it’s simply Facebook profiles.
Super proud of you @TFA2016LD now when people say TFA doesn’t take education majors you can set them straight haha.
Thank you soo much!! @TFA2016AJ I’m super excited, I’ve announced it to everyone who will listen haha. I got my entire package amount already, I’m already trying to plan. Next step, I’m trying to decide when to take these exams. The next Praxis II deadline is March 19th, probably won’t have time to take that one unfortunately
@TFA2016AJ and @shellijax223 you have to have over a certain number of posts to personal message someone. I’ll send you guys both personal messages with a link to my facebook so you can add me!
@93polarbear it has been such a journey! Good luck with the LSAT! I know prepping for law school was a headache, but honestly, TFA faired out to be a more tedious process so if you made it through this, you got the law school app process in the bag! Maybe one day we’ll bump heads in the legal field. I’m interested in education law so this classroom experience will definitely give me the footwork I need to paint a clear picture of what these students need. Best of luck with all of your endeavors.
I GOT IT GUYS IN SOUTH CAROLINA ELEMENTARY EDUCATION
However, as spoiled as this sounds I am going to share it with you guys. I took the necessary Praxis exams for Hawaii. Just because I felt extreme pulled to the region. I am qualified to teach elementary and special education there now!!! Do you all know if there is any possible way on the planet they will reconsider our regional placement? I am thrilled and excited!! But I stupidly fell in love with a different region.

@TFA2016AJ @shellijax223 thank you so much for the input my status is still under review, so I’m just waiting
Congrats @Bfiggie !!! I know there is an appeal process if you’re unhappy with anything, but I know that’s generally if you’re not accepted into the Corps in general. I’m not totally sure if you can appeal for location, but I feel you completely. If I didn’t get Charlotte I would’ve been wondering the same thing!
@Bfiggie it’s always worth a try to ask for a new location! It’s been done before- my cousin was placed in Georgia and told them she really wanted New York and it was accepted!
I’ve heard of people getting placement changes, but they’re rare and hard. It’s worth a try @Bfiggie
-P.S. (Future Readers) Everyone that had TF changes this deadline were accepted.
-Anybody know if our pre work stuff will still be a big box of tangible items or has it updated to online/digital now? I hope it’s still real life things that I can hold. I’m such a weirdo.
Thanks for your input guys! I’ve emailed three people and called someone! And they all keep bringing me back in contact with the same person who is saying we aren’t placed in Hawaii unless we’re native. I am upset because I’m already certified and South Carolina does not accept my Maryland certification. So I get paid as an uncertified applicant. It just really stinks. They also partner with a university that does not offer an education masters degree that I would pursue. So I’m unsure about what to do. I’m upset because they could have put in the 5 places I requested above South Carolina and I would be accepted and paid as a certified teacher.
@TFA2016AJ Thanks!
I’m going to ask for a placement change as well, my brother and his fiance just accounced their wedding is right in the middle of summer institute. Yay -_-
I read that they stopped sending the huge packets of pre-work and instead will have it all online @TFA2016AJ
And that stinks @Bfiggie hopefully everything works out!
A little late but:

Placement
-Placement region: San Jose, CA
-Placement subject: K-8 multiple subjects
-How were your region & subject ranked on your preference form?: Not a top choice, and I even had a special circumstance conflict with the summer training. I’m hoping they can re-assign me because it’s important I have these two weeks off in the summer for my brother’s wedding abroad.
-Did you have special circumstances?: Yes.
Hey y’all! I have a random question that I was hoping one of you know the answer! The second summer in between our second year of teaching, is that free time or will we be at another institute? Thanks!!
@awesomebins no. Institute only takes place during the first summer. As for it being “free” time, there will likely be workshops we are obligated to attend via TFA as well as our school district. Aside from that, I’m pretty sure it’s Summer’s off like any other teacher.
