@bitsysanders Hopefully we find out today. Btw, did you get ENC like you wanted?
@tfahopeful17 Ditto. And YES! I did. I’m pretty excited about that. I’ll hopefully be teaching high school English, but I’m looking at this Praxis II, and I think I’ll have my work cut out for me
@bitsysanders Congratulations! You can do it!
Transitional funding has been posted!
I just finished the interview preparation webinar I almost skipped it because it was at 1am my time and getting out of bed was uggggh, but I want to say it was very helpful, I recommend to everyone else still in the application process
I’m in the same boat. I’ve started studying for the TExES Science cert and am amazed at how much I have to relearn…if anyone wants to connect and/or study add me on Facebook or Insta. I’m in the DFW Facebook group…the one that asked about testing. Otherwise private message me for my info.
@FSUforTFA What is the name of the DFW facebook group? I need help studying for the TExES English test
Ahhh JK I found it
I just got changed to high school science so I’m going to need some help too lol
@twynn1 wanna connect and collaborate on study materials and info? I’m high school science as well. How did you get switched btw?
@FSUforTFA definitely! I’m in the facebook group as well. My original assignment was in my least preferred and when my regional contact I expressed concerns then he convinced me otherwise. We got off the phone and I did a few days of thinking then I texted him about the possibility of switching. We were able to get on the phone and I was able to explain my reasoning for wanting high school and what I originally planned to do for the kids in those grade levels. He recognized my passion but didn’t offer any guarantees. After he went back and forth with the onboarding office, they reviewed my transcripts and told me high school English was mainly for English majors and similar majors, but they would allow me to choose between high school science or math. My reasoning was really good though, and my contact made sure I knew that it was rare to do a subject change now.
Ahhh it’s interview day!!! I am not nearly as prepared as I meant to be, the election threw me through such a loop that I forgot about the interview!! I thought it would be hard to fill 5 minutes for a lesson plan, but I’m practicing now and it turns out I need to worry about cutting it down some more. I’m very close to good timing though. And I have it set up so that I can add/subtract parts to keep it to 5 min And I still have about 5 hours to prepare. It’ll be fine!!
My computer threw a giant baby hissy fit!! My Mic REFUSED to work for the most part. It worked when I tried testing it with my comp’s sound recorder. It worked when I tested it with gmail. But could it work in WebEx? NOPE! Except for twice when it decided to work and just made big, loud, obnoxious disturbances in the interview. So then I muted it and both times I muted it, it wouldn’t unmute unless I jumped through a million hoops and then it made the terrible noise again. It was like the dial up noise. Now I have to reschedule and all virtual interviews are full. Even if I get into a virtual interview I’m not sure how to make it work My Mic WORKED. I tested it every way I could, before and during the interview. How can I fix something when what went wrong makes no sense???I’m so frustrated and sad and I hate living in Cambodia right now I won’t be back in the states until June.
@twynn1 Awesome, I’m James. I was the one that asked about the study preparation materials on the DFW group, feel free to reach out and we can probably get a group message with others to throw confusing concepts around and help each other out! That’s really awesome that you were able to get switched into something like science though. Science teachers have pretty good job security and are always highly sought after!
@Nymzie have you gotten in touch with TFA’s help center? Maybe they can help you figure it out. Also, do you know anyone in Cambodia that you may be able to ask about using their computer or if they could help you?
Hi guys! I’ve never used this site before but I think it would be neat to get to know some other applicants and hear how the process is going along for everyone. I had my interview on Sept 11th in Charleston and I enjoyed it so much. I was very nervous but also I feel so dedicated to TFA as my future path.
How are people feeling about their interviews?
- Nov 11th, oops!
@FSUforTFA I got it sorted out! I figured out my mic problem, and I just finished my interview. There were two other people who had technical issues during the interview, one that got fixed after about an hour and another that had to drop out and reschedule. And someone came in at the very end of the group interview, thinking the interview time was in PST, not EST. So I feel a lot better about my problems. The interviewers seemed so relaxed about other people’s problems, and they were probably the same with mine but I just couldn’t tell because I wasn’t relaxed.
@hailez I’m so happy someone else in this interview period is on here! I need someone to freak out with over the next two weeks. I just got finished with my interview about 15min ago. It’s 1:15AM my time and I definitely overdosed on caffeine to get through it, hahah. I felt like a crazed speedtalker rambler during the personal interview.
The group interview I am confident about. The personal interview… not so much. Not at all. Especially the more I think about it. Here’s hoping I’m underestimating myself.
@nymzie I’m sure you did fine! I think if you’re dedicated and show how much you care you will definitely get in! Where in Cambodia are you from?
