Teach For America- 2018 Corps

YO! It’s up! I’m going to be teaching middle school science in Arkansas. I’m a bit more nervous than excited, but I’m ready for the new adventure!

I got Metro Atlanta! First choice! But I got secondary math so eh…I’m not really qualified for that at all. I was a psych major and my science classes were biology heavy so I was pushing for biology.

I’m kind of nervous about Math. I literally only took the 2 required classes for my major. I want to be of service to my students.

I got Indianapolis, which was in my preferred and my 7th choice overall. I was really hoping to be on the East Coast rather than staying in the Midwest. Also got HS Math, I made this Highly Preferred to be more desirable for popular northeast regions, but haven’t taken math since I was a college freshman… Unsure how to feel.

I got elementary (grades 1-6) in Chicago!!! Chicago was my #1 and elementary was in my highly preferred. I’m so excited; congrats to everyone!!! Please feel free to message me if you’re also in Chicago or going to the Chicago summer institute!!!

@tfadawghopeful @hrtotfa2018 also got metro Atlanta!! Middle school math and general science! We should all connect :slight_smile:

My application is still showing an error code! I wonder what’s going on!

@TFA442710 Mine too!

Mine still does on Safari, but comes up on Google Chrome.

@tfaatlanta25467 yes, definitely!

Mine works on Safari via my iPhone but still doesn’t work on Google Chrome on my laptop.

My placement consultant was slightly off, I guess. I got early childhood education in Tulsa!! That’s even better and I am OVER THE MOON, GUYS

Google Chrome worked, thanks @TFA2018WI! I got Greater Tulsa and I’m not too thrilled, unfortunately. I have to mentally process not getting any of my 6 highly preferred options.

@tfadawghopeful @tfaatlanta25467 sounds great to me!

@TFA2018WI That’s interesting that you got Indianapolis and it was your 7th ranked region. I placed Indianapolis as my top region, but got Arkansas which was my second ranked region (tied with Massachusetts). I shouldn’t be too surprised that I’m going to Arkansas, but I’m a bit surprised that I will be teaching middle school science since I have taken mostly biology/environmental science courses in college.

Folks, Greater Tulsa was my 11th choice… How did I end up in Tulsa?

@TFA442710 What did your region and subject lists ultimately look like? It might help future applicants to see that getting your 11th choice is a possibility. But Tulsa seems like a really cool place!! You should talk to the regional consultants about any concerns you have.

@TFA442710 I agree with @Ranza123 that you should share with us what your subject and regional rankings were. It’s weird to me that @CatsAndMoreCats highly preferred Tulsa, and they weren’t placed there, and you had it as your 11th choice but you were. Maybe it had more to do with subject need in your case?

I’m also going to Tulsa. Sorry it wasn’t a high choice for you, though. :frowning:

Has anyone officially accepted their offer yet?

@tfadawghopeful I accepted mine!

@tfadawghopeful I will probably wait until tomorrow to accept my offer- I am definitely going to accept my offer, but I need to speak with my regional consultant first about the millions of questions that I have.
