@TFAcali2018 I applied for transitional funding after I was accepted, so that should still be a possibility for you!
@TFADream2018 Do you have any specific questions about transitional funding? I’m not sure how much help I can be regarding it, but I did apply for it and received a (small) award, so I can try to help!
@Ranza123 Thanks for all your help! I had one more question. How many weeks is it between getting into tfa and getting your regional acceptance? And after that, how long do you have to accept the offer to join the corps? I know that we have until we get our assignments to decide if we want to join or not but I was hoping to know the timeline. I am really passionate about tfa but there are a couple other things I am considering so I was trying to figure out offer accept/decline timelines for each
@TFAcali2018 It looks like for the third deadline, you hear your admissions decision January 29th, have until February 2nd to preference your regions, find your regional placement february 12th, and then have until february 21st to accept or decline. Here’s the link to the timelines for all the deadlines: https://www.teachforamerica.org/join-tfa/application-deadlines
@Ranza123 Thanks idk how I missed that. Guess I am going to have to sit down and really think about what I want once I know whether or not I got in
I’m so hopeful for anything, but I guess I could live with Vegas since I’m from California. I just don’t want to have to go all the way to Buffalo!
Last day of waiting guys!!!
@TFADream2018 hahaha, except for all of the waiting we’re going to have to do tomorrow. That’s going to be the real killer, hitting refresh a million times throughout the day tomorrow. …Not to mention the wait for regional assignments if we do get accepted. @Ranza123, any chance that wait is easier and less stressful? xD
Good thing I teach haha, by the time school is over I’ll have my admissions decision.
@heartofateacher haha I actually found the wait for regional assignments to be even worse. The admissions decision is just a blanket yes/no, but preferencing regions and subjects makes the whole thing feel a lot more real, and the regional assignment potentially has a huge effect on your life, even if it is just two years! I was so excited about every region on my list, but since I had spent my entire life and gone to school in rural upstate New York, any region would have been a huge change for me. The day we found out regional assignments, I was visiting my friend in Chicago (which ended up being where I got placed!), and he literally had to drag me up off the floor and look at my regional assignment for me because I was so nervous!
@Ranza123 Ah, I feared as much! I completely understand what you mean by making the whole thing feel more real; I think the whole application process progresses in a way that slowly builds up to feeling real. They really seem to like that build up of anticipation, the execs at TFA. Awesome that you were in Chicago when you got placed there, though! That must’ve been an awesome way to really get a feel for the place that will be your home for at least two years!
Im curious to know, did anyone’s time line disappear? And does it mean anything? Mine hasn’t
Mine hasn’t either and I’ve seen in past posts that it may indicate something but it’s not a definite at all. I think TFA might have gotten hip to it at this point lol
@cookie2018 haha that’s what I figured when I noticed none of us really posted about our TL’s vanishing
@TFADream2018 @cookie2018 Yeah I commented earlier that tfa has most likely figured out the glitch. My timeline has been up the whole time and my code has not changed at all and I have not seen anyone else post that theirs has.
Mine hasn’t either! They want to us to drown in anxiety
@TFADream2018 @cookie2018 @TFAcali2018 For what it’s worth, mine has disappeared, but I’m not sure that really means anything.
Mine has not disappeared yet.
My anxiety is through the roof. 24 hours!!! (Hopefully sooner) I’ve seen in previous threads some people getting their decision as early as 11 a.m!!
