This is way worse than waiting for acceptance lol
Just a few more hours!
Does anyone know roughly what time we might find out based on previous app cycles?
@docdocdocc 1 - 4 pm i think
It will be on our Applicant Center like last time, right?
I’m so excited for everyone who is finding out their placements today! I keep checking this thread to see if any of you have heard. I’m nervously preparing for my interview next week, so if anyone has any advice they would like to offer, I would gladly take it to occupy your mind while you’re (patiently?!) waiting!! (:
@HopingForTFA2019 Be yourself! I was bubbly, happy to be there, and when I left I had no regrets because I was me. If you go into it happy and honest, regardless of the outcome you won’t regret it. And make friends! I interviewed alongside so many interesting people - it was truly an awesome experience. It should be fun, and you should feel comfortable being you. Good luck!!!
@Hope2DoWell lol i thought my interview went really bad at the beginning so i thought i was rejected but here i am. also just dont stress bc i made my lesson plan the night before and it went really well… don’t overthink and be honest!
@HopingForTFA2019 Good luck with your interview! My best advice would be: 1. To have your name, lesson topic, and grade level preprinted so your prep doesn’t eat into your lesson time 2. Make sure in the group interview you focus on being collaborative rather than standing out, because if you can both bring up valid points and support others it’ll look great and 3. Relax in your individual interview, that way the interviewer has a chance to get to know you, and come up with a couple of good questions about education reform or TFA. Show that you’ve done your research and they’ll be impressed!
Thank you everyone, this is making me feel much better!
@jmmillr8 What do you mean by having my name, topic, and grade preprinted? I have a powerpoint that I am going to run from a large screen tablet. I have all of those things listed on my first slide, but should I have it printed out, too? Perhaps I missed something in the prep work descriptions.
@HopingForTFA2019 Be careful about using a power point.
@Hope2DoWell Why? What’s the issue with powerpoint?
@HopingForTFA2019 it means to have it already written so you don’t waste precious seconds writing it out.
Here my take on the interview
I chose to do second grade math- addition with regrouping using manipulatives. I had two posters printed out, worksheets, markers and pencils. The whole shabang. I volunteered to go first which i suggest to everyone. Open my bag and realize I left EVERYTHING home minus the board I printed. I had to borrow tape and markers
Okay! This is all very helpful and I just re-read the sample teaching overview. I am going to revamp my lesson plan tonight. Thank you, guys, for your help! I think I wouldn’t have done super well had you not provided all this info!
Hey everyone My transitional funding changed from under review to complete!
@HopingForTFA2019 You’ll be fine. Just remember 5 minutes is a whole lot of time. Good luck to you!
My transitional funding changed to completed too! Eek!
My thing says we will find out “after 6pm” - but we agree it might be before?
I’m waiting for someone to give the word because I’m terrified to check!!!
ahh still nothing!!
