@2019tfahopeful I’m actually not as nervous as I thought I would be in the waiting game. I thought I would be a mess! I would like Colorado, ideally, but I think I would be okay going almost anywhere. What about you?
Ideally, I would love DC or Philly. But I’m open to mostly anywhere, but I do prefer a more city feel…
To those of you who have already been accepted, did you find that you were eligible to teach in the majority of the regions? Or were your available regions limited?
I wish that someone else on this feed was doing the last deadline like me! I just keep rereading these posts and checking the code! It feels impossible to be able to wait until Monday. If I do get accepted, I really have no attachment to any region in the US - as I grew up in PA but went to college in MA, but I do not want to stay in either place. I have looked at the TFA website to compare regions but one still does not stand out to me. I was just wondering if any of you could tell me why you picked the regions you did and what stood out to you??
Thanks! — patiently waiting.
@sammy104432 I am also waiting to hear on my acceptance on Monday, so I feel your pain. Feel free to send me a message if you want to talk out regions! I’m also obsessing over this!
@hopingfortfa2019 I was eligible to teach in all of the regions (except Twin Cities I think? Not sure why) but the subject you’re eligible to teach varies a LOT between cities. Some regions I was eligible to teach everything (even things I had never taken, like French) while others I was only eligible to teach one or two subjects.
@sammy104432 you’ll get a lot more info about all the regions once you get accepted. There are a ton of comparison charts they send you. It’s pretty overwhelming; I also didn’t really know where I wanted to go. I knew that I wanted to go to a city since I’ve lived in a rural area my whole life, and I ideally wanted a decent public transportation system. I ended up putting my top two choices because they were two of the only cities I had visited and I knew people who lived there already. But it’s a tough choice! You have to figure out what’s ultimately important to you.
@Ranza123 Thanks! I am a bit worried because I listed my graduation date as May 2019 on my application, but it is now in April. So I’m concerned that having that May date listed will disqualify me from regions that have early start dates for Institute. I reached out to my recruiter, but haven’t heard back.
@hopingfortfa2019 they don’t automatically tell you that you can’t join a region because of a graduation date! They’ll tell you anticipated institute start dates and then it’s your responsibility to list only regions where you can attend all of institute.
Also, my graduation is the last weekend in May and most institutes start after that. So it shouldn’t be a problem either way.
@Ranza123 Thanks! That’s extremely helpful!! (:
@Ranza123 thank you! That is very helpful to know that they give you more charts and comparisons when you get accepted!
@HopingForTFA2019 Yes !! I am so happy to have someone else to freak out with haha. I keep thinking about my interview and second guessing every answer I gave. How do you think your interview went?
@sammy104432 I actually feel really great about my interview! I have classroom experience, so the lesson was not too difficult, and my personal interview just felt like a really great open conversation. I actually really enjoyed the experience. I’m sure you did great! Confidence is a big part of it, so as long as you felt good about your answers in the moment, I’m sure it wasn’t that bad!!
Hey guys! I’m waiting on Monday’s decision, too. Have we decided if there’s any truth to any of the code tricks mentioned earlier in this forum? I’ve been trying to figure out what-- if anything-- the changes to my page mean. Would love to know what others think, or if it’s all just nonsense.
@617185 Hi there! I think the codes have been less of an indicator as of late. I’m pretty sure TFA caught on that people were finding out their results before the release date. This, of course, does not mean I haven’t been going through every line of code for the past week, though! Lol!
@HopingForTFA2019 Yeah I agree with you that I felt really good about my lesson and the group activity. I just never can tell whether I did well in an interview or not. But the interview did feel like a nice conversation at points! I also felt really prepared for some of the questions that he asked which was good too, but also very unprepared for others haha!
Also, I kind of hope that the code rumors are true so that we can all discuss when something in it changes!
Hi guys!! I’m also waiting for Monday to come!! I’ve noticed that my code says “final eval” and “null” not sure if it means anything anymore tho!
@2019tfahopeful that’s what mine says too!
Do you have hidden codes that say Accept/Decline our offer, too? That showed up for me after my interview.
@617185 yes, but I believe they’re ‘if’ statements, meaning it’s a variable.
I hope it’s a good sign! Ugh Monday can’t come any faster!
So I see a code that says “acceptance” and “assignment preferences” anyone see this?
