Teach For America - 2019 Corps

@sukari If accepted, you will research the 53 regions they offer and put in a list of places you would like to go. Then they select a region to send you to based on your preferences and what you’re able to teach. Not sure where in NY you are but NYC and Buffalo are both options. Wherever you go, relocation expenses are on you. TFA will give you a loan for moving expenses, but they do not pay to move you, so be prepared for that if you do not stay in NY.
You can find all of this information on the website, too.

Looping back on this! Did anyone else get a phone interview or was that just me? I had no idea that it was part of the process.

Hey @hopefulbub! I didn’t get a phone interview so that makes me a little nervous lol. I applied for the first deadline, as well, but I am not as hopeful as my username makes me seem. From what I can tell by inspecting the element on the webpage, the decision will be posted at 12:01 am on the 21st (don’t quote me on that though). Good luck to everyone out there applying, my fingers are crossed!

@HopefulTFA2019 Maybe the phone screening differs based on our backgrounds! I’m a marketing professional hoping to transition into the corp, so I think they wanted to screen me for a fit? Not too sure but I hope we both get good news tomorrow!

@hopefulbub it is possible! I am an undergrad currently at UNC Wilmington (which is underwater at the moment thanks to Florence). How did your phone interview go?

@HopefulTFA2019 I’m so sorry to hear that! :frowning: I’m from Houston and know exactly what you’re currently going through because of Harvey last year. I hope things are well since the storm died down and that you and your family is safe.

I think my phone interview went pretty well! It felt like more of a conversation than a job interview, which was amazing.

What time are we supposed to find out today about interviews? Should I be checking my email or the applicant center? So nervous and excited!!

@princeton’19 Not quite sure! I don’t think they specified a time.

From the looks of last years, it looked like it was email and sent around 3/4pm. But it seems as though they are running on their own schedule and kind of do what they want lol

Yeah that’s what I was thinking as well, based on the last few years

Hi everyone! I applied for the first fall deadline and I just found out I was invited for an interview! Anyone else?

@teacher2019 I also just found out that I was invited back for an interview!

Hi friends,

I haven’t received any type of email or phone call yet, but my application page says to “Get ready for your interview” and has the second step open for completion.

Good news?

@soonerteacher I just looked online and saw that as well. I didn’t receive an email but I can assume that I got invited back haha. Congrats!

@teacher2019 My school is having a career fair and I just talked to the TFA recruiter who said not till 6pm tonight but I guess she was wrong because I just logged into the applicant center and I have an interview too!!!

Now I got the email

I still haven’t recieved the email!

I got an interview, and the email was sent shortly I saw it on the applicant center! Congrats to everyone

Where did you end up seeing it? It’s not in my email.

Hi everyone, I enjoy reading all of your experiences for this process. I plan on applying for the second round in October. I’m super nervous but I really want this. Let the journey begin! Congrats to everyone who got invited to an interview!
