Teacher/counsler recs.

Yo, on all 5 pages of the online app, there appears to no place for these or even any mention of them, does GaTech not require them?

no, not required. if they were, they’d probably mention it, right? :-)

They dont want you to send them either…I called.

In addition to universities, many companies are moving away from references. It’s a biased sample since people only ask people with a positive opinion for a reference.

Thats is so true! Plus it delays the whole process.

Son is still writing the essay so the OCT 1, early notification deadline has passed. We still think that as soon as the essay is ready he should submit it asap and not wait till the next deadline.

Update - applied before Nov 1, did not send any recs/transcripts, is this ok? I sure hope so.

pixeljig - you’re good.

We sent my son’s transcripts back in the summer - when we sent them to a bunch of schools -but it’s not required at this point and neither are recs. DS got deferred, but he pretty much knew that without a math score in the 700s it would be long shot. So he’s not upset or anything.

Good luck to your son.

Thanks! GTech is one of his favs. He did not know that a classmate had applied there Oct1 - Was very excited when learned that the friend has gotten in!

Deferral means there is hope for sure - hang in there!

Anybody know how many have been accepted in the first round?

I think the only thing you can truly glean from references is that if they do not have references from key people in their lives then that is a big cause for alarm.
