Teacher Evaluation

Hi,

On the Stanford website, they say the following about letter of recommendations:
"We recommend selecting grade 11 or 12 teachers in two of the following subject areas:

English
Mathematics
Science
Foreign language
History/social studies
You may submit an evaluation from a teacher who taught you in grade 10 if the coursework was advanced (e.g. Honors, AP, IB, etc.)."

Is this implying that it must be from the core, non-elective classes? Or is it a loose interpretation, saying that any teacher whose class incorporates these topics is eligible? I am asking because I feel that a letter from my robotics teacher would be highly influential. The class incorporates both math and science, but it is considered an elective class.

Also, I am graduating as a junior, so would a teacher from grade 10 still be ineligible if it was not an AP, IB, or Honor's course?

Thanks in advance!

They “recommend” but not require. If you think she would submit an amazing recommendation, I say go for it. And yes, 10th grade would be fine for you. I think they just said 11-12 grade because they want someone who recently tough you. If you are currently a junior, a 10th grade teacher would be an 11th grade equivalent for a senior
