Say I am applying to several schools, 10+, do I need each of my two teachers and my guidance counselor to personalize each of my recommendations like "He would be a great addition to Georgetown University"....."He would be a great addition to University of Florida"...."He would be a great addition to New York University".... or can they just write one and I give them the postmarked envelopes to each university? Also, will they have to write anything abotu the actual college (like on the header) that would make them have to do any additional work then just writing the actual letter and sending that letter to each school?

thank you so much in advance for a reply it is greatly appreciated

Each of your teachers should have a basic structure for your recommendations. For each school, it should be tweaked a bit for "personalization" sake (don't put "Georgetown University" on the Yale app) but otherwise will have the same content. If there is a particular school that you really want, express this desire to them so that they may make that essay especially favorable (while the others will be left in the bleh format).

Your teacher's don't need to "personalize" their recs to the specific universities you are applying to. I am sure you would not only be a great addition to NYU's campus, but to just about every campus there is!
Universities care about who you are, not about how often your teacher mentions their name in his rec. The CommonApp teacher rec even states "A photocopy of this reference form, or another reference you may have prepared on behalf of this student, is acceptable." They really don't care.

Actually, I think teachers do personalize them. What b@r!um said may be the "formal" way of looking at it, it won't kill a teacher to change the name of the university of mention a few specific details.
