<p>Glad he has seen a speech path in grades 4 - 5 - what did they say about language processing? Did they give you/him some strategies, such as visualization-verbalization to improve his skills ? I would most definitely suggest a carefully selected SLP in private practice at this point. I don’t recommend this often, and actually run a business that places SLPs in public schools, so I know they can be EXCELLENT. The difference is your son’s specific concerns and what you need from the SLP. A school SLP is testing to qualify for school services. Even if the exact same person does work after school at a private practice, the battery of tests, and the methods, would be different. You need a more complete battery of tests with an emphasis on more challenging tasks. Your battery should include some probes on what helps/what doesn’t help.</p>
