Hi, so I asked two teachers to write my reccs and they both said yes. The only problem is one of them wants to do it by hand. Where can I download the forms that he needs that says which schools I am applying to and their deadlines?

The common application has the teacher rec form as part of the application. Log into your account and you’ll see it. You download ONE copy of the form per recommender, fill out your portion (the top), and give it to the teacher with pre-addressed and stamped envelopes, one for each school. Put the due date for the specific school somewhere unobtrusive on the envelope for that school. You can also type up a list of schools and their deadlines to hand him. The teacher writes one letter of rec, copies it and the rec form, and mails it out in the various envelopes, usually all at the same time.

If you really want to help him, write up a paragraph for each of the following:

1) strengths as a student and person
2) educational, personal and professional goals
3) challenges you’ve faced in the last 4 years (and how you’ve dealt with them)
4) accomplishments you are most proud of and what you’ve contributed to your community over the past 4 years (all your communities - school, neighborhood, church, whatever)

This information will make it easy for him to write a strong rec rather than the generic, so-and-so is a good student…The high schools in our school district actually require this from seniors so the guidance counselors can say something meaningful about the student. Works for teachers too.

Thanks a lot.

Also thanks for the recommendations, I’ll do a cheaper version of it just because I would but the teacher on a friend level because him and two of my friends would have long conversations with him a lot after class. I also did well on his papers (English Teacher). One of the things he wants us to do additionally is bring in our highest scoring essay.
