Hi, I am wondering just how many teacher recommendations to send in? I know the app asks for one but you can submit up to 3. At the info session this summer the admissions counselor said you can send more than one but they would not necessarily read more that one. I know some people sending in up to five.

Don’t forget to read the instructions! :)

I did which is why the question arose, it says one teacher and one counselor but there are people I know sending up to 5 teacher recommendations and am asking if I just send one as per the instructions does it look bad? My friends say you need to send more than one to be competitive. I can get more if I have to.

Are you familiar with the saying…“the thicker the file, the thicker the applicant”?

Follow the instructions!

Chasing down all those extra recs isn’t a good use of your time. You have a long to manage as a senior in high school. Keep it simple and don’t go overboard.

Reading five teacher recommendations and a counselor recommendation could be pretty tedious for an admission officer at a school that gets 28,000 applications.

One of my favorite quotes: The more important the person who wrote the recommendation, the less they probably know about the applicant.
