Teacher Rec's from whom?????

Ok, so I have an art teacher who has known me since freshman year and really likes me, has been the advisor to the club of which i am president, and who was my freshman year art teacher for two semesters. Does she count as an "academic" rec?

Also, if she doesn't, my other option is my english teacher, although i didnt really talk in her class, so prob bad rec?

If that doesn't work, then I could go to my french teacher, whose class i do pretty well in and participate in but she doesnt like me as much as my art teacher does...would that be ok?

and if I did end up getting a rec from my eng teacher, how badly would that hurt me?

Also, I was hoping to look at this from uchicago's perspective. they say "We require two recommendations from teachers who have taught you in an academic subject."....but theyre not too specific about who qualifies as "academic"

I don’t think art qualifies, unless that’s your major/it’s an art school, or maybe if you took an art history class or art analysis or whatever I don’t know art that well.

Send the recommendation from the art teacher though She definitely seems like she’ll be able and willing to sell you. And in the meantime, try to correspond with and develop relationships with your english/french (I think foreign language would qualify) teachers and give them additional info about you so they can write more informative and personal recs. Maybe suggest what they should highlight.
