Teacher Recs

When applying for Sc.B. or PLME, Brown says that they want one of the two teacher recs to be from a math or science teacher. Would a computer science teacher count as a math/science teacher in this instance? Or would I need a separate math/science teacher?

A computer science teacher would definitely count as a math/science teacher.

^ Tag-a-long question, how about an AP Psychology teacher?

Psych is considered a social science, and not a science in the same category as biology, physics and chemistry, which is what Brown means when it says “science.” I agree that a computer science teacher counts, although it should be a pretty serious CS course. Remember that what Brown wants to see from this recommendation is a science/math teacher saying you can handle and excel in the hard sciences at Brown.
