Teachers this year. :P

So, what do you guys think of your teachers so far? (for this year I mean)

Give details for every teacher... Except gym, studyhall, etc. And if you want, grade them so far. (:

hahahah, it's our turns to give them grades. ;)

Me:

USH honors teacher: Mr. K: So hilarious, and I've only had him for 5 school days, but I can already tell he's a brilliant teacher... He really does know what he's talking about and shows that he truly loves USH. I really like him so far. (: A+

Trig: Mr. A: He's okay so far. Seems like a good teacher... He does explain things pretty well, but I really dislike the fact that he doesn't make ANY eye contact with anyone. He literally stares at the floor all period.. No idea why, but he seems like a good guy. B

English honors: Mrs. F: Most people think she's absolutely nuts and, well, they're absolutely correct. BUT I love that about her! She's definitely fun and exciting and keeps class entertaining. I actually really like her, despite the fact most people seem to hate her. A-

Physics: Mr. N: He's so relaxed and cool! He's not stressed or uptight or anything negative. AND he makes physics interesting. A

AP Bio: Mrs. G: Well, I've had her for regular biology already, so it's not like I just met her. I do like her though. She's pretty funny and laid back too... B+

How about everyone else? :P

Study Hall: always late for class, kind of in the background of things

Honors Algebra 2: sweet as a person, frazzled, confused, doesn’t know what she’s doing

Honors English II: ADHD, rants about how young girls are being misrepresented in the media, doesn’t know what she’s doing either

Honors Chemistry: funny, witty, really knows her stuff, thorough in her explanations of concepts

French II: condescending, hypocritical, bratty, impatient, won’t let me use the restroom, looks like Beeker from The Muppet Show

AP World History: makes the class fun, thorough in his teaching, holds interesting class debates, assigns WAYYYY too much homework

Art III: plays Enya during class, was probably a hippie in the 70s

Health- Hilarious, loud, laid-back, and old school, one of the most solid teachers i know, saved a kids life outside my first period one mornin when the kid was having a seizure, plus he coached our 2008 baseball team to a state title, hes a BEAST. Grade: A++

Honors Chemistry- Hands down, the funniest teacher i’ve ever had. period. plus hes young so he can relate to us, and hes always playin around with us while still gettin us to learn, even better, he hates ohio state too. Grade: A++

Advanced Algebra 2-Well, this maybe a little biased because i hate math with an absolute passion, but she is, wow, shes a really good teacher i gotta admit that, lol shell stay after school for an hour, teach you like 4 different ways to do a problem, and shes right to the point, cool. Grade: B

Advanced Literacy: Say hi to the 2nd funniest teacher i know, he is sooooo energetic its ridiculous, its impossible to fall asleep in there, he has ADD and it seems like all that does is make him 10x a better teacher, he lets us have so much free space and time to think and flow and come up with ideas and answers its crazy, my friend who was valedictorian last year had him, same for 2 of my junior friends, im so lucky and blessed to have him. Grade: A+

Advanced World Civ-Not only is this my favorite subject but my teacher is just so cool, shes not the perfect teacher be she is UP THERE, its like she knows when to let us have “free time” and talk and everything but she knows when to draw that line and take control, plus her tests are actually about what we study, shes kind of slow at grading though, and a little slow at doing things, but overall, greatest social studies teacher ive ever had. Grade: A

Dood, my teachers this year are effin’ awesome.

One of my teachers cursed a kid out today, and said that our generation was the most pathetic thing to come of earth yet. But 3 days ago she called my mind a gem when she saw me reading a book on judicial theory haha. Though today I almost failed her quiz… Hard math man, hard.

OrangeBlood, I love my teachers this year too. :stuck_out_tongue: Your teachers seem pretty awesome as well… :p

BigBlimp: Ugh, I hate teachers who are so strict about using the bathroom. -.-

History:
She’s cooool. I can’t really complain, like she’s nice and her class is easy. She gets on to me for talking just a bit too much though.

Pre Calculus:
He’s reallllllly fat, kinda funny. But he can be a bit of an ass to students. I’m not really sure what I think about him yet. I switched into his class like 6 days into the school year.

Yearbook:
Our teacher is realllly nice, almost too nice. She’s probably my favorite this semester.

**Chemistry: **
He’s cool. He lets us do anything we want. I was eating in there on my first day, and I can just have my cell phone laying out in there and he won’t do anything, hahahah. He also answers all our stupid questions.

lmao, i love when teachers don’t care about phones being out. What’s the harm of them being on your desk if you’re not using them?

Found this thread and dug it up.
Chemistry honors: overall cool guy. Kinda hippyish. Likes to have people complete his sentences.
Eng hon: The guys really introverted. He always seems really preoccupied with other thoughts. Kinda blunt and rude, but people say he becomes really friendly as the year goes on. Seems mildly autistic- wont look you in the eyes lots of times.
AP Euro: pompous, pretentious, condescending. Some people like her. I don’t. She keeps getting into arguments with me for the stupidest things. (ie writing name on whiteboard or finishing work too quickly and not having enough content despite having more than anyone else in class.) Idk why she doesn’t like me. I’m the only one who does all of the homework.
United Student Body: Same teacher as last year. He’s awesome, just let’s everyone do what they need to. He’s that one teacher at the school that everyone likes and has him on Facebook.
Precalc hon: I haven’t met the teacher yet haha. But we’ve had the same sub and she’s just kinda shy and unassertive. I like though.
Spanish 2: same teacher as last year. I really like her despite everyone else hating her. She likes me too. She’s pretty funny and will talk politics with me. I hate the people in her class though.

So far I liked last years teachers much better.

AP BIOLOGY:

Ms. M is really cool and hilarious~ During our lectures, she really gets into it, goes in depth and tries to make broad concepts more clear and fun. She’s strict, but that’s the only way to get the work done lol. She uses a buddy system called CLGs where we work in groups in four on classwork and labs. This is really helpful and a wonderful idea. It’s like a little study group.

AP CHEMISTRY:

My teacher Ms. G is something else. She is known for her tough grading and helping others. She always has funny jokes and makes chemistry fun and gets us thinking. I die in this class everyday because it’s so hard, but she is very helpful and doesn’t mind 101 time with her students. She also gives us TONS of resources to become successful students in her class.

AMERICAN STUDIES II HONORS:

I hate history and I hate (not hate, hate, but dislike strongly) the teacher. All the girls love him and he’s a little sexist toward males, just a little, not a lot though. He’s nice, but there’s something that I can’t stand about him. He can be funny at times I give him that, but let’s just say that I can’t wait to get out of that class.

LATIN I:

I hate taking foreign language classes because all that information can never stick. Our teacher is really funny, and hyper. She gives great lessons and prepares fun activities. It is a lot of work but she always sneaks in a little fun here and there to spice things up in our class.

Honors Precal
He’s okay. Nice, but not a very good teacher in front of the class. He answers my questions privately better but goes so fast and doesn’t give us time to absorb the material
Grade: C
IB French
SO SO SO nice. I love her. She’s good at French but we haven’t really done much yet so it’s hard to rate but I’ll give a B+/A- so far
IB History
Pretty good. Talks at a reasonable pace but calls me dear and he says it kind of creepily which freaks me out
Grade: B-
IB English
Hate him. We do nothing in class and he doesn’t really teach. He’s sorta nice
Grade: D
AP Chem
She is so F-ing funny. She’s Turlkish though so she’s hard to understand even though she explains things well
Grade: B
IB Film
He’s okay but we haven’t done much so it’s hard to rate
Grade-B-

Geometry: A very, very nice lady who clearly has a passion for math. However, I can understand how somebody who is not very good at math can dislike her as she doesn’t go into too much detail. However, I like her a lot. I’d give her an A.

English 10 Honors: Wonderful! I’m not sure if she likes me but I certainly like her. She also has a great passion for what she is teaching and explains literature very well. She’s also very challenging, opening our minds up to things we never thought we were capable of. A+ all the way.

APUSH: Also absolutely incredible. Teaches and explains everything thoroughly, he’s hilarious, and very engaged with the class. His incorporation of humor into the subject matter makes me absorb it so much better. He also challenges us very well. A+ as well.

Spanish III Honors: While she makes the class very challenging, she is the sweetest person ever. I dislike how Spanish is taught in our school in general which is not necessarily her fault. However, she explains grammar very well. Vocabulary is a different story…regardless, she is a very good teacher and probably the most relatable. I’d give her an A.

Chemistry I: He’s okay, nothing spectacular. He’s not very good at explaining things but I enjoy the overall philosophy of the class that you get what you put in: if you work hard, it pays off. If you don’t, you’ll have to suffer the consequences. You learn as much as you want to. I’d probably give him a B+.

uhhhhh my new teachers this year (only 2) are ****

Math: Same as last year, very nice, enthusiastic and supportive of my attempts to pursue math further than the class allows. A

English: Same as last year, she loves me, but is an awful teacher. Which is particularly problematic as English is where I need the most help. C-

Biology: A new teacher who is really boring and speaks in a way that makes it really hard to listen. Also does things exactly by the textbook, which makes classes very dull. B

Chemistry: New teacher, he’s very cool and fun. Not the best at explaining harder concepts, but generally good. A-

Physics: Sames as last year, nice and loves giving out sheets. I got 100 in my external exam last year, so she’s obviosuly doing a good job. A

History: Thought she was really boring last year, but she’s really grown on me since then. VERY organised. and seems really passionate about the subject, like me! Gives a lot of support to help us get top grades. A

Spanish: Very nice, a bit too lax on homework and handing in work to be marked for us that my standards tend to drop off a little in her class… Also not always the best teacher, but generally good. B

Classical Civilisations: Pretty poor teacher, we get very little done and she get’s angry very suddenly for basically no reason. On the whole quite nice though. D

Textiles: She teaches us what we need to know, but doesn’t really enage us and also sets basically impossible deadlines sometimes. B

Algebra- My most despised class, and the teacher is OK, but not great. The other students think she
s mean, but, eh, she
s an improvement from the teacher I had last year. C…average as can be.

English 10- My teacher used to be in the Army, so she kind of expects more than the normal teacher as far as politeness and listening to instructions, which is fine to me, but the other kids think she
s full of herself for being in the Army, which I don
t see. She
s an excellent teacher and actually teaches us more than what
s required…she gave us AP English stuff to prep us for next year. A- to A+…somewhere along there

Earth Science- Ughh—28 kids in my class and they
re all jerks and think the teacher is awful, but he
s OK…nothing special, and when I try to talk to him he doesn
t like to carry on a conversation. I don
t know, just normal. C or B…somewhere in there.

AP World History- EXCELLENT! My teacher is…well…she
s so over-confident. The first day, she told us she knew a whole, whole lot more than we did, and is verrrrryyyyy blunt. But in a good way. She doesn
t beat around the bush, and she
s just…awesome. We
ll be in the middle of taking notes, and then we
ll get on some random topic and just talk about that for a while…she
s just eccentric, but in a very good way. If any of you have read what I
ve written in the “Things that Make You Smile” thread, you understand what I
m saying… A+, with no doubt!

College Sociology: The professor is kind of dull but the class is interesting. He’s just kind of meh. He gets a C
College Health: The professor’s super nice but the students are so stupid. “Isnt throwing up after working out a good thing?” facepalm “How do I gain weight?” The professor herself gets an A =)
AP Lit: the teacher’s nice and the class is relatively easy (yet labor-intensive) so she gets a B+
AP Gov/Honors Econ; Eh. I have an indifferent opinion of him, so he gets a C.
Anatomy Honors: She’s a great teacher and makes the class very interesting and easy. A
Calculus Honors: She’s awesome too. She’s a great teacher and the only math teacher in the school that actually teaches well. (I had her last year for trig too.) A

Pr-AP English 11: Had her last year, she is nice and a pretty good teacher. She is just I suppose a nice teacher to have in the morning. B
Yoga: Sick teacher, doesn’t really care for practically anything at all. A
AP Comp Sci: He is a cool guy, have had him for 3 years now “Alg 2, Comp Programming, and AP Comp Sci”. Though he is a horrible teacher who gets stepped all over. C
Biology: About the same as AP Comp Sci but a little bit better at teaching. I should have taken AP Bio, but that teacher is one of the most harsh teachers in the school and I am not great at science as is. C
Pr-Calc: Screw this teacher, she treats us like kids have candy rewards and such. I like it when teachers just teach not do all these 4th grade activity stuff. Mean teacher too, really strict about rules and grading…she gives like 4.3/5 and weird grades with decimals.
AP Human Geo: Good teacher, great guy, A.

TRIG: Relatively good teacher–he has spiky hair and looks like a meth head
APUSH: Best teacher this year. Very nice lady who is also very good at explaining things. She keeps me concentrated the whole period.
SPANISH 4: Also a very nice lady…I’ve had terrible and boring Spanish teachers in the past…she’s a good one though
CHEM: Great guy and is passionate about chemistry. He’s also laid-back.
BAND: Good guy, funny, laid-back
ENGLISH: A very dramatic, funny dude who is also laid-back
COMPUTER APPLICATIONS: Once again, he’s a laid-back sort of dude.

Not too shabby for my Junior Year

It’s my senior year, so I’m kind of chummy with my teachers. They’re good people.

Precalc: Huge hipster. He sometimes takes time off to go to festivals. We discuss Foucault. He’s a great teacher, though. He even knows how to teach math to someone language-oriented, like me.

English: Smart feminist. I’m pretty invested in impressing this teacher. She wasn’t very impressed with me last year, but I really respect her and I want to show her that I’m worth her time. She seems to like me but I think she wants me to push myself further. She’s very supportive.

Drama: Haggard Qu

AP LIT: A+ I love him, he’s like a genius and he’s funny. He encourages arguments and is ok when we express ourselves the way we do in front of friends (i.e cursing, yelling, etc.). He let’s us examine how the literature we reads is relevant to the world. Last week we had a screaming match over the Romney comment

AP Macro: B- He talks to much and too quick, but I’ve had him in the past and he’s a good teacher

Probability & Stats: B: He’s weird and he looks like he should be in whoville, but again, he’s a good teacher

Teens & Tots: I’m indifferent to her, she doesn’t teach much we fend for ourselves, she grades us on interaction with the toddlers.

Honors Elementary Functions/Trigonometry: Amazing, she really wants us to understand the material and she is so nice. Also her class is never boring, we did function aerobics the other day! A+

AP/Honors English: Really good, so far the class is sort of easy, but the teacher is so nice that it makes up for all that. A

Yearbook (it is a class at my school): It is more student based leadership, but again really nice, probably an A

AP/Honors U.S. History: Eh, the teacher is nice but it is very much a teach yourself class. We have already covered 200 pages in the textbook and barely discussed it in class. B-

Gym: Hate the class, wanted to take an extra AP instead. F

Honors Physics: He is also awesome, the labs are fun, we are learning and it is at a good pace. A+

French 1
She’s seriously the coolest person ever and I’m picking up everything really quickly so she likes me a lot. She doesn’t care if we use our phones and she’s super laid back.

Honors Algebra 2
She’s an all-business kind of person. We hardly ever slow down but she does make some pretty funny jokes. She’s a good teacher though and she likes me which is a plus.

Honors English 9
It seems that all of her former students absolutely love her but she’s been absent a lot so I haven’t really formed an opinion. From what I’ve seen so far, she’s pretty cool. I don’t really care for her class though.

Honors Biology
This woman sorta annoys me. She’s like peppy and strict at the same time. She’ll scold you in a peppy voice. She kinda acts like a teenager even though she’s 30. Plus I don’t like biology.

Honors World History
Really sweet lady. She’s got pretty low standards and accepts everything late for full credit. You just have to act like a stressed out and frazzled little freshman who is still getting used to high school. She doesn’t really teach though. You just read the book at home and take quizzes on Friday. But she allows you to use your notes on the test so it’s not too bad.
