"Facebook has made the startling admission that teenagers are becoming bored with the social networking giant." ...

Parents: Seeing any evidence of this? Are YOU getting tired of Facebook?

If so, then what's the Next Big Thing?

Facebook admits teens are tiring of social network as they turn to newer 'cooler' apps such as Snapchat | Mail Online

Twitter is the thing now. Old folks are on Facebook

^My DD said that two years ago. I hardly use it but all I see on Facebook now are my old HS friends.

My kids quit using Facebook several years ago. Too many parents and grandparents!
They moved to Twitter, also.

I predicted it wouldn’t age well. It’s flat. Not vibrant. TMLQI. Too much low quality info. Fwiw.

One of mine rarely even checks, doesn’t care what 90% of her “friends” are up to. The other checks but rarely posts.

I guess my son and his friends (all HS seniors) are the exception - they’re still using it constantly.

FB still used here, but Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat are getting increasing use among some.

And Twitter’s going to fall, too. Not because of old folks. Because, like MySpace, it’s not the complete “it” people seek. These are all billboards. Primarily one-way communications.

I am bored with FB…so kids must have moved on awhile ago…

I think I got tired of facebook when it stopped being mostly about finding and connecting with people from your classes and turned into MySpace except without the personalizable pages (though that seems to have happened).

My girls rarely post. They use twitter and snapchat. I still like fb, great way to keep in touch with friends overseas.

I should add- rarely post on their homepage. I think they participate in group pages. I know d2 has groups set up for SGA, Beta club, spanish club etc. I think they also set up groups for classes eg AP World.
College girl also has specific groups and also uses the events feature. maybe fb is evolving away from the hompage for teens.

My friends who are in their 30’s & 40’s use facebook alot, because we use the group notification function to keep each other apprised of upcoming events, both social & volunteer community based groups.

Many of them post simultanously to twitter/flickr.I have a twitter acct., but rarely post, mostly I use it to check traffic & to read jokes.

I have no idea how much my kids use facebook, not on their friends list.

My friends in their 50’s & 60’s use email to stay in touch, but since they copy all the previous emails every time they reply, I think I am going to set up a facebook group for our book group communication, which I think would be easier to keep tabs on than wading through all the emails.
Thanks for the idea!

DS (senior in HS) does not post on FB but he communicates with friends in private FB groups. DD (junior in college) is still on FB but more active on Twitter and tumblr.

I like to keep up with my friends (who are not local) on FB.

My kids say that facebook is “stalkerish”. They decided that several years ago. They mostly use it to keep in touch with older relatives.

Well I am HS graduate (on a gap year). I am bored with both facebook and twitter!

my kids claim that twitter is for “old people, rock stars, tv/movie personalities and athletes…”

Personally, I never got into FB because it just seemed boring to begin with.

when I used FB and Twitter, I liked FB. The reason:

I think Tumblr has become popular with D and her friends.

emeraldkity4, you mention your friends in their 50’s and 60’s use e-mail. My H and I fall into this category, as well as our other close friends.

I deleted my fb some time ago. I’ll make another after I know what college I’m attending to connect with my future classmates. I also deleted my twitter. Guess the only social media account I have is Instagram.
