Oh okay I gotcha yeah I’m on the semester system so I only have 2 more weeks of school. I just meant my final grades as in sending my final transcripts. Is it just me or are there a lot of De Anza students that post on College Confidential? Where is that anyway? too lazy to google

Redo, you’re lucky to already have finished IGETC… I’m taking the last class this quarter. I’m really scared De Anza will screw up sending it, since there’s so little time after our classes end.

Killmyentourage, De Anza is near San Jose, an hour-long drive south from San Francisco. It’s right in the middle of Silicon Valley.

hahahaha killmy i think its cuz de anza has like 25,000 kids…i believe its the largest CCC. and i would say just send em all together then, but it doesnt really make a diff!

and datransfer, they actually did mess up on my igetc cert!!! the lady who did it didnt check off “full IGETC cert.” so essentially, she sent berkeley a useless piece of paper. fuucckking idiots.

Does De Anza send a lot of students to Cal? I go to Orange Coast College and a ton of people end up going to UCI since it’s only a few minutes away. Obviously, I doubt that there’s any sort of preferential treatment but our school specifically offers some Upper Division UCI transferable classes that aren’t normally offered elsewhere. The students who go here are generally in a better position regarding pre-reqs/reqs etc. since they can get a bit ahead before they apply so essentially the majority is accepted. (Not that UCI is too hard to get into in the first place).

Yesterday, at our welcome event thing, they mentioned that only 109 students from OCC were accepted to Cal this year and I was just reading that there are 25,000 actually enrolled in classes each semester here. Not too many people from my school apply to Cal (since UCI, SD & LA are preferential) but that didn’t seem like a very high number of acceptances to me lol. I hope my CC doesn’t suck!

I don’t know if de anza sends A LOT but I know that de anza + foothill are generally considered the best in the area. (I go to both of them). Generally many of the people I know got into Cal and/or LA. But my group is probably skewed since most of the people I know are through student organizations or honors classes. But de anza is suuper crowded.

killmyentourage,

what event did you hear that at? do you mean the honors award night?

yeah i dont actually know of anyone who got into berkeley this year from da. only the people i see on these boards lol

No at the southern cali reception thing though last night was Honors night too. The speaker mentioned a lot of the incoming transfer admittance stats. He also said the oldest person and youngest person admitted were 16 and 72! I can’t even imagine her being a transfer at 16…

I only personally know 5 people that were accepted and they were all within branches of bio/chem/engineering. I don’t really know anyone else at my school since I’m never in any other classes but science & math :)

thats strange i know at least 7 people who got into cal as philosophy majors

SMC acceptance was about 350? Santa Barbara & Pasadena were each a few hundred. That’s all I remember though.

LOL maybe i hangout with the wrong crowd :/

I think I know like at least 12 people who got into Cal from De Anza/Foothill. I don’t know why I even looked this up through my Facebook lol.

wth!^ like you actually personally know them?! hahahah whaattt am i doing wrong here

lol yes. Looking back, I think 2-3 of them actually got in last year and are already at Cal, but yeah I know each of them personally either through classes, or having to interact with them cuz they were on student government and/or in other club organizations that my club interacted with.

I only know two people who got into Cal from De Anza. Usually when people ask me where I’m going next year, and I say: “Berkeley,” they just stare at me in disbelief before they congratulate me.

It took a week for my apt. to be posted from when I SIRed - Monday July 25th 11AM. At least there aren’t any appointments on the weekend and everyone (minus 1 person) has had a registration date on 7/21, 7/22, or 7/25 so far though registration is from 7/14 to 8/14. Does anyone have any idea what sort of order they go by? I know it’s random per student but do they group all students together with their class (ex. Juniors) or major for registration purposes?

^I’m pretty sure its by units, because you’re only considered to be a junior if you have 60 units right? maybe the people who are transferring in with the most units are getting the later times? i’m going to be transferring in with like 105 quarter/70 semester units. so like the max that they’ll take.

in that case i have 92 semester units (actually i have about 130 units from my CC alone plus 22 from my four year). my friend has only 60 credits and her date is the 21st and mine is the 25th. i was thinking that maybe they go senior–> jun –> soph –> fresh and each class essentially gets ~week of reg dates. Theb they take ALL juniors (transfers and students in their third year at cal) and randomly assign reg date approximately within that week. Or i could be completely wrong.

hmmm then my theory might be correct! they’re probably concerned that the transfers with the least amount of units wont get all the classes/units they need this fall so they probably decided to give them a boost with the earlier registration dates!
so i think you’re right about that first part (senior/junior/etc), but when it comes to the weekly part, they do it according to specificly how many units an individual has.
hopefully come spring, they’ll do it more the traditional way - where the more units an individual has, the earlier they can register.

or yeah, like you said, i could be completely wrong haha
