Tell me about Stouffer

This is more of a continuation from my last thread "Got a single in Stouffer, want to trade?" After reading most of the post, I thought I get more information before doing anything definitive (although im still taking offers;)).

So with that said, can anyone here give me info about Stouffer. Any info is good info. Particularly social life, building quality and features, niceties, and comparisons. Also, I'm not to familiar with how the shared bathroom bidness works.

Thanks
ed

Phil is amazing. He has cool stories and hosts milk and cookies at his place every Wednesday night.

You have a great hammock, well positioned on the patio.

See my post in other thread about bathroom details. Basically, it’s 5 kids assigned to every bathroom. You’ll be with freshmen and it’ll be co-ed (but there has never been an issue with privacy, etc)

basketball hoop on the patio too

nothing else comes to mind that would really differentiate stouffer from other dorms. Ofc you always have free food events, access to grad students / faculty you can build relationships with, and have your A/C + heater + free laundry + other essentials.

I had a lot of friends in Stouffer and spent a lot of time there. You have a kitchen where you can cook in, people in each section got really tight. My friend’s corridor ordered wings every Tuesday and played games/watched movies or TV together throughout the entire year. Everyone has a single in Stouffer Stouf so people so it’s not a disadvantage at all not having a roommate. My friend said everyone in her corridor essentially became her “roommate.”

I mentioned in the last thread (I think I’m bias though) that being in Stouffer also gives you the advantage of getting into Stouffer Mayer. I consider Mayer to be the hidden secret when it comes to dorms. Those rooms are effing huge. Way better than the high rises.

ohh i’d like to know too…i also got stouffer and was wondering what the bathroom situation is like??

I lived in the Stouffer community ever since soph year – it’s a great place to live. They’ve got some of the cleaner bathrooms on campus. They are communal, shared by both men/women, but only by like 5-6 people in your pod (area of the building).

Stouffer is extremely community-oriented and there are tons of events going down all the time. You’ll meet a lot of people if you let yourself. It’s all a bit “campy” but it’s still quite fun. However, Stouffer has a reputation for having quite a few “socially repressed” residents, since Stouffer has a TON of single rooms, making it easier for people to be antisocial. However, there are public lounges in every section of Stouffer, and they are usually quite social. I have many good memories of hanging out with large groups of friends in those lounges until the wee hours of the morning… especially over in A section with the TV. :stuck_out_tongue: I miss those days!

Oh, and the rooms are carpeted with decent closets and with AC.

Being in Stouffer also gets you first crack at Mayer. I lived there as well. The rooms are ENORMOUS compared to anything else you get on campus. Easily the best rooms you can get. You get your own bathroom, great AC, lots of floorspace, a big closet, decent-sized windows, close location to Huntsman and Wawa and frat row/Allegros if you enjoy those spots any, the High Rises, etc.

Man thinking about all this is making me really miss Penn. :/
