Okay, so here's the deal: I know I want to ultimately going into marketing, but my question is what to major in for undergrad. You see, I am 100% certain that I want to go to graduate school (specifically the global marketing graduate program at Emerson) and I am trying to figure out if I should major in the ever-so common Business Administration with a concetration in Marketing or major in something that really interests me such as International Studies. I am also sure that if I majored in International Studies my GPA would be significantly higher. Would grad schools be okay with me doing a non-business-related major; would I suffer for this when it came to graduate school admissions? Thanks!

No, grad school would be perfectly fine with that. Remember that MBA programs are less interested in what you did in college than what you have done since college. Marketing is a real creative, idea-based field. Do a major that would involve classes that would nuture that creative process. Formal business training can come later.

Just so you know most entry-level marketing positions Require or specifically Target a marketing degree:

General Mills Marketing Associate:
http://www.generalmills.com/corporate/careers/mar_undergrad.aspx

Nestle USA Marketing Associate:
http://www.nestleusa.com/PubCareers/crUndergraduate.aspx

And yes, most marketing positions are in Consumer Products companies as Marketing is the lifeblood of that industry. In some other industries marketing positions are reserved for higher-ups.

And if you want to do marketing After your MBA it would be best to have prior marketing experience. Also word of warning, MBAs aren't much use without significant prior work experience. Given that at the MBA level recruiters are not looking for entry-level people.

Look into Donny Deutsch Marketing. It's one of the big marketing firms that do only marketing...it might interest you.

Wait a second, Deutsch is an advertising agency. Keep in mind that Marketing and Advertising are pretty different fields. The daily routine, future prospects and required skills are completely different between say a Brand Assistant with Procter and Gamble and an Associate Representive with JWT.
