Telling MIT updated Senior stuff?

I was recently selected for an Honors Scholarship from a local foundation (which is 100% merit based scholarship). The requirements were pretty rigorous considering about 4-5 kids from our class of 550 kids were selected. The money is quite generous, about $2500, but depends on how well my interview goes.

Is this something I should tell MIT via email or fax? I applied Early Action back in Oct.

I’m not sure what would be best, but congrats!

I would send them a formal letter saying that you have recently won _____.

You know, they might have read your app already though.

Honestly that letter sounds kind of awkward.

I would just put this on your midyear report if you happen to get deferred.

4-5/550 is not that rigorous by MIT standards anyway, and it won’t help you much.

Yay 200th post.

I think you’re supposed to fax them any new information. Since it’s pretty late into the season (two weeks until decisions are released, yikes!), maybe you should just wait and put it on your midyear report.

It is almost certainly too close to selection to send updates for EA – I imagine they’ll start selection this week.

If you’re deferred, you can send a letter with an update at some point in January. Then the update will be read with your application when it’s re-read for RD.

ah thanks mollie!
