What’s the deal on telling scholarships (when they ask, of course) that you’ve applied to other scholarships? I could put them all down truthfully, but my chance of even getting one of them is next to nothing…
In such situations, what should I do? Would it be considered untruthful if I later get a scholarship from one of the ones that I’d already applied to but didn’t report?
Could and should. Are you asking if you should answer the questions dishonestly?
Okay, I see your point.
So if I applied to 10, then I put all 10 down, regardless of whether I was denied. Correct?
Just answer the question that is asked. If the questions asks how many you have already applied to, put down how many you have already applied to. If the question asks how many awards you have received (or how much in award $), then answer that truthfully.
Just so you know, I was always honest with scholarships about what else I had applied to and none of them seemed to care (at least based on my success rate with scholarships).
