Telluride Association Summer Program (TASP) 2013

I have the ‘specific problem or topic’ one to do. And also half of the conflict one. Also, I have to do a huge science assignment.
OH JEEZ YOU GUYS.

it seems like most of us are rushing like crazy to meet the deadline! haha u guys thanks for making me feel less lonely!

Sorry if this has been asked before but how are you guys citing your sources? Like are you adding a works cited bit at the end, or sticking only with in text citations?

^I really don’t think it matters how you format it. I did in-text citations, and also stuck them at the end.

Same. I have in-text citations^

Does anyone know if we have to cite when we are only mentioning a title?
This is for my “topic of interest” essay, and I mention several books/pieces of art. These are all things that I have read or viewed and so anything I say about them are things that I know already - I’m not using info I found on another webpage or anything, and I’m not using quotes from the book, so I wouldn’t think that I need to, but I’m not really sure. I don’t want to get disqualified for something silly like that…

Once I figure out this citation problem, I just have the Critical Analysis left. That’s going to be my toughest essay, because I have absolutely NO idea what I’m going to write about, or how to do it… lol.

EDIT: Just to clarify, what I’m asking is this:
If I were to mention the “The Jungle Book” (and write a bit about it off the top of my head, not using quotes from the book or anything) in my essay, would I have to write a full citation for that book at the bottom of the page?

No you do not need to put citations for things like titles that are mentioned.
Good luck!

Thanks so much! On to the Critical Analysis essay…

are short stories considered books? I read mostly short stories :(

You’re allowed to do your analysis on a short story

Sent from my XT907 using CC

@xuanxuan if you mean can you list short stories on the book list I think that you could, as long as they’re significant to you in some way.

I don’t know for sure, but I imagine that you could list a short story or two. I would avoid doing all short stories, though. They seem to allow fairly loose interpretations of the prompts to allow for freedom, so I don’t think they would disqualify you or anything if you took liberties on the meaning of a “book”, when a painting can be considered “text” for the Critical Analysis (according to the FAQs). I’m no expert, though, so wait to see if a former TASPer can confirm that if you want to be completely sure…

Ok, so I still have one to write. Also, just realized that my time is behind their time, so I have less time than I thought.

Please, someone else say that you’re still working, so I don’t just give up!

Don’t worry, you’re not alone! I need to start on the first one (I only have my topic chosen, but still need to write it), have barely started on the 2nd, am halfway through the 3rd, and need to revise and edit the rest. I really wish that I had found out about this program sooner…

Have a really rough draft of all five, but only three are on “first draft” stage (i.e. the ideas are in sentences…) I have the conflict and analysis ones left, this is not going to be fun…

One thing that I do like about this last-minute writing is I feel that I can write better now than I would have if I had found out during Winter Break.

I still have to finish editing all of my essays, some of which needed a lot of changes

Yeah, I have less time than I thought as well, since I’m not in Eastern Time… Don’t worry, I have the Critical Analysis to write, and my other 5 are really rough and need to be edited a lot. I probably have less than you to do, but I need to emphasize how much I am struggling with the Critical Analysis… I’ve never done anything like this in school, so I am pretty much guessing on the format and stuff… Also, it has been about a year since I read the book that I am writing about, and I’m realizing that I don’t remember as much about it as I thought…

i just submitted!!! im getting a bit nervous because it says please allow 24 hours processing time…

Just submitted as well!

@elle822, we should be fine…
