Telluride Association Summer Programs (TASP) 2016

@drakonus Yeah I get what you’re saying but I’m so split. I have super strong political thoughts, however my entire political reasoning relies on statistics and facts. I also have philosophies but IDK how to fill pages with that.

Sigh This week I have to finish TASP application, take the SAT and Midterms.

I hope that my topic of choice isn’t too frivolous…it does have a major impact on my seminar ranking though.

Hey guys. What are your top choices for seminar?
My first is Literatures of the Security State: Privacy, Surveillance, and Modern Culture (cause I am really into Politics)
My second is Public Poetry in a Digital World (I am interested in the impact of poetry)

Sadly, I am colorblind so I cant do “Archetype and Contemporary Art” and I believe I am out-of-depth when it comes to “Black Lives Matter” (though I do hugely support the movement)

My first would be public poetry, and second would be archetype/contemporary art. And @CanisMajor I feel you! I, too, have midterms this week… after my midterms I’m planning on just crash-writing my apps.

I can’t decide between public poetry/contemporary art for my first choice. Third would be BLM, and (very close) fourth is Literatures of the Security State.

Really, I’d be privileged to attend any of them.

I feel you @CanisMajor. Except I haven’t even started my application. I’m going to write it all next weekend while binge-watching TV; although I’d absolutely love to go to TASP, I highly doubt I’m going to get in, so there’s no harm in writing the apps at the last minute. In addition, I tend to only be able to think of responses to prompts at the last minute, so… here goes.

@tonystarkofwinterfell lol i havent started any of my essays yet either. We are screwed together.

@CanisMajor let’s do this. (Except let’s try not to fail finals, either.)

LOL @CanisMajor @tonystarkofwinterfell I’ve listed out books and written one essay. Basically, just as screwed as you guys.

@drakonus @tonystarkofwinterfell Let’s Go Fam!

^^^^^^same everyone! except i haven’t written anything except the booklist. haaaaa

^^^^ I was actually planning to not apply, but you guys have inspired me to just wing it this weekend.

I hate this month :frowning:

How many books do you guys have on your lists? and how many non-books do you have?

I have so much crap to do that it’s making it impossible to write my essays. I have the SAT on Saturday and I have finals next week… and the application is due during finals week. I’m screwed.

@genevieveeeees What did you write about for topic 3? I’m having trouble thinking of a past experience I had that hurt someone in my community :l Maybe you could refresh my mind somehow.

@krauser126 I wouldn’t ask someone for the specifics of how they write an essay because it can interfere with your own thought process. You might unintentionally make your own story like that other person’s.

BTW @tryingforharvard I just finished my book list today and I am stuck at 5 items. I have NO MORE SPACE to write anything. and my description of each book is very limited in my opinion (only two sentences). Anyone else, similar problems?

@CanisMajor yeah i’ve found the same problem. i am also struggling to accurately explain their significance in so few words

@bsdsj22 you can do it!!! i’ve only started one of my essays so far.

OOPS What I did was I just listed everything that I ever liked at one point/remember reading, and now I’m narrowing them.
Do you guys have only books? I have a lot of classical music as well as popular music… and foreign language films too. Don’t think I’ll put any exhibits or newspapers/magazines because they’re not as important to me.

@drakonus 250 words leaves very little room for a great deal. I have only 1 nonbook because I focused on the things that were most important to me (and those were mostly books).

BTW I am worried that I wrote too long of a description for each “book”. I wrote roughly 50 words for each description. Did you guys have about that long?

this is probably a stupid question, but what does it mean to have <1500 characters/ <250 words? my booklist is over 250 words but under 1500 characters… thoughts?
