Telluride Association Summer Programs (TASP) 2016

@tryingforharvard lol opposite prob for me. i adjusted my wording and made sure to meet both requirements. I suggest you do the same.

@tryingforharvard I think less than 1500 characters, or around 250 words. When you submit online, they do character count, not word.

@krauser126 Same I’ve been having a lot of trouble with topic 3…does anyone have any examples (without being tooo specific)?

Also, for the short answer questions…it’s 250 words in total to talk about all the short answer questions right? not 250 words per short answer question?

@peetachips I was talking with my English teacher and he laughed at that prompt. He told me that it is difficult to get yourself into a nasty situation if you are mature to begin with. For me, I’m just talking about an instance where I upset my friend by making a rude comment (I have nothing else to go on…)

I wrote 950 words for the Why TASP? essay… is that enough? Lol

Application due in about 3 days and I only finished my first essay,

@peetachips 250 words per list
@BSDJ555 I am 50 words into my first essay

@CanisMajor LOL I think you tagged the wrong person.
I’m only 700 words in my first essay too… oops.

Kinda confused about what do regarding the word/character limit…is it 1500 words or 9000 characters? i feel like its both because the application states explicitly 1500 words but counts 9000 characters…I’m not sure…what are you guys doing?

…I finished all of my essays and they’re all >10,000 characters (1700 words)…I now know why less is more
so whats the stance on the word count? Can i have an essay that is <9000 characters but >1,500 words because they don’t count words…should i just not risk it?

@jake071999 do both just to be safe! do you think the black lives matter program is predominantly offered to african americans? because that’s my number 1 choice, and i’m not black, but i don’t want to sound bigoted by putting that as 1.

@mischiefmaker I believe that TASP understands that race should never be a barrier to learning. I wish you the best.

@ILDocter I really really really don’t think they’re gonna care tbh. just keep it less than 9000 character

As someone said before the 9000 character thing is an upper limit…

Where did the time go? Going to have to pull a couple of all-nighters to finish these essays. No time for polishing because I’m a super slow writer and I procrastinated way too much.

@mischiefmaker pretty sure the BLM seminar isnt limited to black people. as long as you’re aware of not being antiblack or appropriative or taking up space which isn’t yours, i doubt tasp would see you as bigoted
also character/word count almost definitely isn’t a deciding factor. all of my essays last year were <900 words, some were barely 750, and some other taspers’ essays were all 1500 words. content counts most

UGH. Brain. Not. Working.

^same and I’m too caffeinated to sleep

I dunno what to write about the maturity prompt

I’m still stuck on unique perspectives. Help. It’s been a week and I’m still stuck thisissofrustrating.
