About the booklist, I have 45 books but I think I'm going to cut out about 10 books I'm not that comfortable with. Iam really calling this whole thing close because I just requested my transcript yesterday.

Yea, I requested mine today hopefully it gets there on time. :] And my list is like 18 books.

Are you guys both African-American, out of curiosity?

I'm not applying to this one, but I might be on TASP next year. I've helped out my friend a little with his apps, though. We'll see how it works out.

And haha how do you read 45 books in a year? ...Max I've read was like, 2.

I read quite a bit... but I didn't want to put the seriously shallow ones, so that they didn't like, know the true me. And yes I'm African American. Why aren't you applying to TASS?

I'm probably not applying (I mean, I might for the hell of it because of my friend, x.X...) because I already have semi-made plans in the summer. Let me just put it out there that I'm nowhere close to being rich, and so didn't plan anything about summer programs and just decided to chill at my house with my family and stuff. Of course, the TASP/TASS stuff is free, which I realized late, so eh.

And I'm not African-American either. That might also be why, although if I was genuinely interested in something I wouldn't care about race. We'll see, but I'm not really calling this one. ;)

Did you guys already send your transcripts?

^^^
"Yea, I requested mine today hopefully it gets there on time. "

Ummm.. Does today count?

Has anyone found out if they've gotten an interview yet? I got my letter a week or two ago, but I'm kind of nervous about the interview. Does anyone know what to expect?

The Indiana University was AWESOME!!!! Had such a good time. Scenery was amazing. Definitely recommend it.

Yeah I got my letter a little over a week ago, but no call scheduling anything yet.

I'm a little anxious but oh well. I mean, if you've been selected for an interview it does mean there's something at least somewhat impressive about you, but then again half the people who are interviewed don't make it in. At 50% acceptance from this point it's a decent shot but the odds aren't particularly in your favor, nor are they particularly against you either. Of course if there's any justice in the world, it's not very much based on luck.

Though, out of curiosity, what's this emphasis on African Americans? Does the program accept more or get more applications based on this factor or something? I don't particularly care, I'm just curious as I've heard this mentioned before and I'm not so sure how this applies (or if it does at all).

Got a response not too long ago. Going to meet them soon. This will hopefully be... fun.

Wish me luck?

Good Luck with your interview! So far I haven't gotten a call yet, but hopefully I will soon :]
My sister just had her TASP interview this weekend and she said that it wasn't too horrible...

Hey I just got my call today :] My interview is next Saturday the 28. Hopefully all goes well...

My interview is on the 21st. No idea exactly what I should be doing but... oh well. Hopefully things will turn out as they're meant to be.

Good luck to you.

Heygood luck at your interview tomorrow!

Well that was interesting.

It's done and it wasn't that bad. It was mostly a bunch of questions inquiring about my position on controversial topics. Every now and then it tied back to my essays but it definitely wasn't restricted to them. It ranged from abortion and stem-cell research, to my future career prospects, to how I felt about my past. Only once did the interview stretch over to any of the books I've read. It seemed quite heavy on the whole concept of equality and race. There was also bit of discussion on capitalism v. socialism. It was more a frame of intelligent conversation rather than a grilling session trying to get in my head. And it definitely was far from a bunch of generic "why would you be good for _____ program" and "What can you offer/bring to _______" questions.

In the e-mail I got it said it would last about 45 min and it ended up stretching over to one hour 20 minutes so I'm not sure if that's a good or bad sign... or has any significance at all.

Not sure if it went all that well actually but I'm pretty sure it didn't go too badly. Of course, that still means very little. Apparently I have to wait another month before I hear back with any response so oh well.

Best wishes to the rest of you.

Moodragonx,

What did you wear to your interview? Mine is next weekend on Saturday and I have no clue what to wear....

I wish I applied. I'm a soph and all I heard about on hear was TASP, and heard about this after the deadline.

Actually my attire was a tad awkward.

I threw on a polo and dress pants, fancy shoes, etc. But the interviewer was dressed completely casually. Apparently she had meant to relate that the interviewees should come in casual attire as well and so that kind of set things off a little strangely.

Though it could have easily been in reverse which perhaps would have been worst. So I suppose the simplest way to find out would be to just be direct and shoot the interviewer an e-mail or phone call with a question about attire (and any other questions you may have thought of about the interview). Save questions about the program and stuff until the actual interview because asking then - as you're likely aware - will show your interest but questions about the interview can be addressed now since you've got another week.

I'm not sure what protocol is for sending a thank-you note. I mean I don't know the interviewer's address though I know their e-mail (and cell phone number as well, but that was just for emergencies) so I suppose I could send an e-mail thanking them and all that but how long should I wait/what should I actually say?

So My interviewer had to reschedule so I might have to do a ophone interview now. Any advice?
