Temple Admissions Class of 2021

I got accepted back in early-mid December and just got accepted to Honors program on portal today. There is hope!

@elise303 that is a real bummer. So terrible how they messed up their merit aid program. The guaranteed awards were a huge incentive. @coffee-and-cramming financial aid usually comes out in April I think. But that was when the FAFSA was due in January.

Does anyone have any insight as to how long rolling admissions decisions take (on average)? My application was complete in early December, and I still haven’t received a decision on the portal. Has anyone else applied around the same time?

@huet99 I applied October 31st and STILL haven’t gotten a decision…

@Shmenan101 did you apply early action?

This seems like too long to wait. I would call admissions. I spoke to the admissions department 3 times about different things and two of the people I spoke to were incredibly helpful and pleasant on the phone.

When I called, the person sounded like they were reading from a script and just said the same thing that was on the portal.

@huet99 @Shmenan101 My daughter applied rolling admissions around November 1st (don’t recall the exact day, but no later than 11/3), and just received her acceptance last week.

According to the admissions website, Temple’s deadline for notifying people who applied EA was Jan 10th, so they should now be working solely on rolling admissions applicants.

Hmm, got accepted to Fox Honors! According to their acceptance letter, less than 8% of Fox Students get this invitation. Can anyone vouch to this/tell me if the Fox Honors program is worth it?

It’s totally worth it and it’s true not many get in so congrats! I was in it until I changed my major.

@coffee-and-cramming When I visited Temple I went to the Fox Honors seminar and it was extremely selective and they spoke about tons of great opportunities. It truly is for the top kids. Do you mind sharing your stats?

@huet99 I applied as a transfer which falls under rolling admissions. I’m very close to committing to Immaculata due to planning my Spring and Summer classes on where I’d be transferring to. Temple is my number 1 but I’ve already been accepted to Immaculata although their CS division is nowhere near what Temple’s is. I also agree with you about the script. Both people in the admissions office I spoke with basically sounded like they were reading me the TU portal.

In reference to people speaking to the admissions office: the lady I spoke to was actually extremely rude–I was asking a question about the possibility of reconsideration for honors at a later date after submitting test scores in February. She was giving me an attitude and told me “M’am. I don’t understand what you don’t get. You already got your decision. What I advise you to do is stop taking tests and continue (continue…when i said several times I’m a highschool student who applied) your studies at temple and maybe study and then get considered for honors.” Was completely polite to her, don’t know what prompted the way she was speaking to me. All of what she said to me was completely wrong anyways. Wish I had her name.

@ally22 that’s no good. The admissions office seems like they could use more help with all of this. I understand they are getting a massive amount of applications but it could be handled better.

Anyone else get a call from their admissions representative yesterday?? She called my daughter directly and was asking what the chance was that she would attend Temple and if she was going to one of the admitted students days.

@ally22 FYI it is true that you can be considered for Honors once you are a student at Temple even if you don’t get in from the beginning. I’m not saying they weren’t rude, obviously I wasn’t there, but I’m just responding to your comment that what she said was untrue.

@jnkam24 No, I know that’s true, but she was telling me that was my only option and only path into honors. Which is completely false, they already reconsidered me for test scores sent in and I’m in.

Just got accepted! Applied 12/05 3.5 W GPA 29 ACT

@ally22 my stats are by no means THAT great, but here they are:
3.95 UW GPA
5.8ish W GPA
33 ACT
I know I did have amazing rec letters, but I don’t know if that factors into their decision for this ?

And wow, yeah, now that I know a bit more about the program, I am honored! And excited for this

S received his acceptance last week. OOS and received Presidential scholarship with acceptance to the Honors college. 34 ACT, 3.8/4.3 gpa.
