Temple Class of 2020!

OK big newsflash here! Anyone who thought their stats were high but did not have an invitation to the Honors Reception on the portal, only Experience Temple Day, CHECK AGAIN because I just went on it tonight and now it says Honors reception too! Woohoo! Still no envelope though:(

My son applied on Oct. 25. He was accepted on the portal on Nov. 20 and received his packet in the mail today.

Hopefullly that means they are starting to catch up My D was accepted at the end of October and is impatiently waiting.

my D received her acceptance letter on the portal 2 days ago but no details on the scholarship award. When you click on the link it says you need to fill out the FAFSA prior to seeing what is being offered to you. I guess we will have to wait until Jan to find out. :frowning:

If you call the admissions office and ask they will let you know if your child is offered any scholarship and if they are accepted into the Honors program or not.

@njdesimom, that’s surprising considering how behind they seem to be. I guess our son can call them if he wants to know now.

Temple just sent me an e-mail congratulating me on my acceptance. Weird how they sent it out almost 6 weeks after it said I was accepted in the portal.

It also said “Your admission acceptance package will be sent by the US Postal Service in the next 7 to 10 days.”
So they never actually sent the letter out?

Son was told that Temple sent out the Honors acceptance letters (with scholarship notices) TODAY! They said you should receive them within a week… yay!!

Sorry if this has been asked before, but for those who did Temple Option, about how long did it take Temple to review the questions and/or give you an admission decision?

/Chocohol not sure…

My son also got the email today congratulating him on his acceptance which came a month ago on the portal. Funny thing is he’s already gotten his acceptance package but the email still references acceptance packages being sent in the next 7-10 days. Guess he got lucky in that he got his early.

S got his package today, and unfortunately got the 14000 scholarship. That would put the COA in the $25K range, which is probably too high. We hoped that the 3.29UW/3.95W would be enough along with his 1460 on the SAT for one of the top two. It’s hard to justify spending that kind of money when Ole Miss, where he also applied, would run around 5k per year.

@mstomper Was he also invited to Honors - (as you indicated that he didn’t see a honors reception on the experience Temple day)? Just wondering as to the weighting of GPA’s… you could possibly appeal as he seemed so close… I’m glad you at least know where you stand and can make decisions from there … and Ole Miss is a great program … if he does well he can always go to Temple for grad school, (probably for free too if he keeps grades up!) then he would have a well rounded rural/urban, north/south viewpoint…

@runswimyoga, I assume he wasn’t invited to honors, which wasn’t a big deal to him anyway. I’m not sure he’d be in interested in appealing, since he’s been leaning less strongly toward Temple lately. He’d probably have enough left over in his 529 for a semester or summer abroad if he went to Ole Miss.

Ole miss makes more sense, he is ok with being in Mississippi since that is a long shot from DC suburban area? if he can make adjustment, ole miss is supposed to be great. you can’t beat 5kish a year for college.

And he is getting this opportunity to ole miss cause he is national merit semi-finalist? that seems to be my memory or maybe i am making that part up. also, i assume y’all have been on ole miss page to verify 5K a year will be realistic costs? i seem to remember OU being more than NM kids expected although they still got a great deal with their actuals costs. just make sure you research that issue about ole miss if you have not already.

Although even if ole miss ends up being 11k or 12K for example, that is still half of Temple. as an FYI, we have found actual costs at Temple to run about 2k less than what financial aid office projected. so your costs at Temple might be more like 23K to 23.5K a year for planning issues. All the best whatever he decides!!!

Wow @mstomper so it looks like they also gave your son little extra weight to his unweighted GPA. Sorry to hear that but glad that your son has other attractive options.

DS still has not received his envelope and we live in the Philly burbs. He was accepted on portal 111/3. Hope it gets here soon.

@1S1Dforcollege My son messaged Temple Admissions last night and they got back to him today saying that Honors acceptance letters (with scholarship amounts) were sent out today so we should have them within a week! Fingers crossed…

The NMSF scholarship is tuition and room. The unlimited meal plan is arund 35-3600, plus whatever books cost. We paid $210 round trip for a DC to Memphis flight, so that’s extra.

He liked it well enough when we visited. The only drawback was that Oxford isn’t at all urban. I think it could be good to have plenty of people around who see the world differently. He’s grown up in one of the most liberal areas in the country. My wife grew up in this area but went to Florida State, while I grew up in TN. I think he’ll find his tribe there if it’s where he ends up. It’s also not to late to apply elsewhere.

Hi, for all ppl who have been accepted, did you select Early Action or Rolling Admission?

Thought the EA notifies us in Jan 10 but I see loads of ppl have been accepted here.

Btw my app was finished on Oct 6th and Im eligible for Presidential Scholarships. I am also an international student. Does it mean I am going to get the results later than you g
