Temple University Class of 2025 Discussion Thread

I applied to Nursing in late October, RD and I have heard nothing back :frowning: My boyfriend applied about a month after (Undecided) and got accepted. I’m getting really impatient now.

Hi everyone. New here but have been reading this thread for a while now. My D has been accepted to Honors Program with merit. OOS. Has anyone tried to get more merit aid from Temple? I’m not sure who to call or how to approach it. Also, if you have, any success?

I emailed the admissions department about it and they directed me to a form on their website you fill out for aid reconsideration.

Thank you. I can do this for Merit? Not FA correct?

Other way around I think

Do you mind sharing? We plan to ask for this, as well.

Meaning this form is for financial aid? not Merit? FA is not in yet. If I find it, I’ll post it. I may just call tomorrow.

I just emailed an admissions counselor about the appeal process for merit. I can share what she says (if she replies).

Honestly idk what I’m talking about. I’ve just never heard of schools allowing people to appeal merit aid

My daughter appealed two years ago with senior grades and awards at another university, she was denied (but she had the highest award anyway besides the 100 invited to a weekend to be awarded more). So far D has received the most from Temple.

Hi so I applied to temple December 1st for nursing and as I see from reading people are waiting to get accepted to temple for nursing . I was wondering what is the hold up? I feel like I should have gotten a decision by the end of this month but it’s about to be February if I don’t find out if I get in or not i will have to look at other schools sadly.

I just check daughter’s TU Portal today and in “Next Steps” section is now changed with only 2 things instead of 4. The 2 things that are missing are acceptance with merit offering and honors acceptance.

Does anybody see the same thing?

Son’s portal hasn’t changed. If you go to the bottom, select the icon “Show completed” and see if those two items appear in gray as they have technically been “completed.”
Hope your daughter is doing well narrowing down her choices. Son was accepted EA to Northeastern N.U.in program, which is essentially a remote start in fall and a spring start on campus. While Northeastern was always his “dream” school, I think he may still choose Temple. He could save the $ and go to Northeastern for grad school. Plus, he really liked Temple when he visited at the beginning of junior year. He only applied to 5 schools and got into all 5 so it’s already decision time (although technically he has until May 1 so we could go visit Boston again). Good luck to you and your daughter!

Congrats on your son’s acceptance to Northeastern. You must be proud of his achievements. However, I think in term of cost and since your son also like the school, Temple would be a good option.

As for my daughter, she just got accepted with honors to UMD, our in-state school, so she may end up going there. To answer your question- yes, they were there but greyed out. Hopefully that doesn’t mean anything and they just updated portal. We did talk to the counselor regarding merit and she told us they will re-evaluate it again in late January to mid February. I doubt that they will give us more but we’ll see.

Good luck your son but I’m sure he will do amazing in college and in the future.

Cheers

My daughter was just accepted into UMD college park scholars, I’m not sure about honors. Do you know when merit comes out? So far I think Temple might be the financial lead besides Rutgers.

From UMD’s website, the notification email for merit will be available by March 1st. However, from what I know by following CC from last year, they will probably start sending out email in late February.
Good luck to your daughter.

@ttb1263 Congrats to your daughter’s many acceptances, especially to UMD’s honors! The niece of a good friend graduated from there recently (OOS) and I know she is doing very well in her career. Our D17 just graduated from Tulane a semester early and the honors program there was a nice perk, especially the honors dorms for freshman and sophomore year. Now she and her boyfriend are waiting to hear about grad school acceptances. I feel like I won’t be able to relax until all of these decisions are in and made! And then maybe not until everyone is settled in this fall. Congrats again!!

At this point, I’m sure most kids and parents are still waiting/hoping for acceptances, Honors and scholarships/FA.

We are still waiting for UofSC scholarships, Pitt’s Honors & BS/MD and UMD’s scholarships in addition to decisions from 3 reached schools. We probably will not know the FINAL school that daughter will attend by late April.

In a way, it is stressful but exciting at the same time.

Anyone know anything about the “flyin4” program?
Is there more advising or is it just a contract that the student agrees to pay attention to their requirements and meet with their advisor? It was unclear to me what is extra. Temple has the lowest 4 year grad rate of any school we’re considering so I’m glad they are trying to do something about that. Just wondering on its efficacy.
