Temple University Spring Admissions

I’m applying as Freshman student for the Fall 2014 semester. My SAT scores aren’t looking too great in order for me to get the top scholarships that Temple offers. Temple considers freshmen, students that take less than 15 college credits after graduating high school. As a backup, I was considering taking a few courses at a local college for Fall 2014 and applying to Temple for Spring 2015, so that I have time to increase my SAT scores and get a better scholarship. BUT I’m not sure if they even offer the $3,000 to Full-Tuition scholarship to Freshmen Spring applicants.

I’ve called and emailed Temple U Admissions and Financial Aid and they were no help. Does anyone know if I'm eligible for the same merit scholarships as Fall applicants?

I’m suprised admissions was not helpful. i’d get in touch with them again and ask to speak to someone who knows the answer or could they get back to you on that? We’re visiting campus in February. If i think to ask, i will ask that for you. my contacts with admissions have been very nice students answer the phone and there are long wait times. However, since I tend to ask crazy detailed questions, they usually get a staffer for me. I have to wait a bit but I have found the staff people(as opposed to the students) to be very informative. The students are great; they just don’t have all the answers.

looked at the scholarship page. My best guess is since u would technically be a transfer if you had some classes under ur belt(even if it’s only one semester), you could only get their transfer scholarships. Still, great question on your end and I would track down Temple to get an answer. may be wise to get it in writing but I would think they have a policy in place to address this issue. another option would be to work next fall and not take classes at all if u could still pick up a bigger scholarship in the spring. Better confirm with Temple if they’d allow that though.

Temple considers students that take less than 15 credits hours after HS graduation, Freshman applicants. I’ll be taking less than 15, so that I’m considered a Freshman applicant if I apply for Spring 2015. I looked on the scholarship page, but they didn’t mention Spring semester. Of course, they mention Fall applications because that’s the primary entering Freshman semester, and even on the Official Scholarship page it’s titled Fall 2014 Scholarships, which is why I’m wondering if this applies to Spring applicants.

And when I asked over the phone, I was too specific on my current situation which is probably why they got confused and couldn’t give me an answer. I’ll keep contacting and asking around in the meantime to see if I can get an answer. Thanks though.
