Term change and housing issue

D was accepted to Spring 2010 and has submitted the request to change the term to Summer. At this point they are saying they won't even look at term change requests until May. Her housing priority date was the very first day of 7/11. If they change the term to Summer, her date changes to the current date and they say housing for summer will be available, but she probably won't get her preferences because she won't have that good date any more. However, it's possible that there will be no more Fall housing contracts available when we find out in May and will be put on the waiting list. If nothing becomes available we will have to find off-campus housing for Fall and won't know until late July/early August.

If her term change request is denied, she will still have the 7/11 priority date for Spring housing, but I'm thinking the availability will be limited because there is not much availalbe.

Has anyone heard of or had a similar situation and how did it turn out? We're wondering if the term change request was worth it if the housing is going to be a mess.

As a back up plan, why don't you look at Windsor Hall and the Ivy House; just goole them. They are run by the same company. Very lovely dorm style housing on campus. The Ivy house is on Sorority row.

Had some friends whose daughters could not get housing and they were very happy with these options.

Thanks, Helpfulmom. Yes, we'll definitely look at all the options. I was looking at Ivy House and Windsor Hall. Good to hear people have positive experiences. Of course reading reviews you hear negatives on everything.

A backup plan will be necessary. Ivy looks great because of the location. Price wasn't bad except when you add on the parking it gets up there.
