The thing is, I was really tired when I was filling out the application and I did it last minute. Not having enough time to ask questions, I didn’t put any of my extracurriculars in the transcript form and used the CSU GPA calculator. My school is OOS and doesn’t weight grades. Is my admission probably going to be revoked because of this? My extracurriculars only pad the GPA on my transcript, but we don’t really weight grades so… oopsy.
I didn’t really think I was going to get in. And then I did.
Extracurriculars don’t usually have any impact on your GPA. Do you mean electives? If you didn’t accurately represent on the application the courses that appear on your transcript, you might have a problem. If you used the CSU GPA calculator, then your GPA should be fine, regardless of whether your school weights grades or not. I would contact the admissions office and ask them.
@berkeleymom4
Yes, I meant electives. Sorry. I didn’t know whether to put electives on there since I’m OOS. They were all As, but I didn’t include them because I wasn’t sure what category they would fit under. Some of my electives did count for science credits so I used those. I used the CSU GPA calculator though. I put every college prep course grade in correctly.
@yeaaaahhhboiii, I would contact the admissions office. They will want to know that there will be additional courses on your transcript that weren’t on your application. Given that the grades were good, it seems unlikely that they will rescind your acceptance, but I don’t know how that works.
I have been following CC and SLO posts for many years and I have seen a rare applicant that had their acceptance rescinded. One was an International that did not meet the requirements upon examination of their transcript, one was for bad grades (several F’s) and one was for not meeting the documentation/transcript deadline if I remember correctly. Trying to see if I can find the specific posts, a very rare occurrence but since SLO is such a popular and competitive school, it is better to be safe…
I do not doubt Gumbymom, however if admitted Cal Poly could care less about your extracurriculars (they only improve your chances of getting admitted), and they recalculate GPAs (according to admissions) so as long as you put the right classes on your application and grades received, there is really nothing to report. If you listed classes you didn’t take, or higher grades than you received it is a different story.
@czs1994: The OP meant electives not EC’s (see post #3) since these could potentially be a-g courses that should have been listed on the original application.
I highly doubt that they will recind your application based upon omitting some electives given you recieved As.
Hurry up and Pay your deposit ASAP. Send you official transcript. Let them count you towards thier yield. Then later on down the line, after you’ve been admitted to more schools and have a solid back up plan, you can ask.
@czs1994: True he has been accepted but if the elective classes are posted on the HS transcript and they happen to be a-g courses which do not match up to the self-reported courses, then SLO has stated they go back and review the application again after the acceptance. Just stating that is part of the terms of the provisional admission. I for one for like to play it safe and have all my bases covered.
:::: From the Provisional admission terms:
Any discrepancy between the information you self-reported on your application and your transcripts or supporting documents will prompt an individual review of your admission file which may result in your admission being rescinded.
OP stated he omitted some electives since he did not know where to put them as an OOS applicant. Some of these electives could have been considered a-g courses. If you are in-state, they are easy to look up using the UCOP website and typing in the HS. For OOS applicants, they do not have this option so I am just stating “IF OP did not report his electives due to not knowing where to put them, maybe one of these electives could be considered an a-g course” and there COULD be a discrepancy on his transcript. I am sure it is probably no big deal since he has been admitted, but just contact admissions and get the OK from the source.
