Hi Everyone, I am not trolling, I just created a different user name.

It appears i made a big mistake on the general commonapp essay. I did not really address why i wanted to transfer. I just wrote about who I am and the main experience I wanted to convey to admissions. I mentioned I am in community college, so im not sure, that should techinically be reasonable enough to transfer, right?

Don’t worry yourself into oblivion–while it’s a bit of problem, most mistakes on the common app are pretty fixable. In my experience, your best bet is to make a phone call to each admission office and ask them if they’d be willing to accept an additional essay. You could even phrase it along the lines of “I noticed there was an additional section on the common app for providing more info, but I neglected to utilize it. While I penned a transfer essay in order to provide insight about me, I feel I overlooked detailing my specific qualms about my current institution. If i took care to overnight an additional response/explanation, would you be willing to include it in my admission file?”

sorry about the bit on the bottom, I’m on my iPhone and can’t delete it.

Why would this student have to explain why they’re transferring from their current college, if their current college is a community college? Isn’t it pretty self-explanatory?

new4transfer,
Surprisingly, I’d judge in my experience thus far that admissions generally seem more forgiving towards transfers than first-year applicants. I had to address a portion of my common app and have experienced little difficulty in getting in touch with the necessary individuals (fingers crossed I continue to meet with success; who knows, more issues could crop up, but I hope not!). If the admissions office doesn’t seem particularly helpful, don’t be afraid to ask for the email address of the person in charge of transfer applications and send them an email introducing yourself and explaining your situation. best of luck!
