How likely is it for someone to get in with a score below but very close to UMDs average? I mean, how strict are they about it?

Their average act is 28-31.
How likely is it for someone to get in with a 27 on the act, and with a unweighted gpa of 3.7 and weighted 3.25? what are my chances for fall? what about for spring?

Thanks in advanced!

Why is your weighted lower than your unweighted? Weighted GPAs seem to vary a lot from school to school. My county does it out of 5 and it is really stupid (“Honors Health” and “Advanced Weightlifting” count the same as AP Calculus BC and AP Lit.).

Anyway, if you are on the lower end of their average than you have a chance, but it would definitely help if you were above the average or at least higher in it. If those are middle 50% stats, then it means that you would be in the bottom 25% of the people they accept. Maryland keeps getting harder to get into, so you might want to take the ACT/SAT again.

thanks!
and sorry…my weighted is 4.25 and unweighted is 3.7

are there alot of people with 27s on their acts that got spring semester?

I agree that you probably should consider taking the ACT (or trying the SAT) again, but your GPA is high enough that it would probably help your chances for UMD. There are no “hard and fast” rules…obviously, the higher the #'s the better.
