Test scores

I want to take the ACT or SAT again

I cant take the test during the oct or sept test dates(football games)

Im not sure if i should take the SAT or ACT again

I got a 32 on the ACT and a 1280 on my SAT, but I did not report it to ND

If I take the SAT again during Nov(only date I can take it), I would have to report my other score to them

So, I don't know if I should just take the SAT again and try for a higher score
or if I should just be done with entrance tests and not send the SAT scores.

By the way, I got a 700 on math and 580 on CR so I think I should be able to improve a lot

I would report your SAT, because if you do better on CR but not Math next time you take it, they will take your first math score and second CR. Also, if you don't do better, the they will just use your ACT instead.

Your ACT conversion w/a 32 is a 1410-1450 on the SAT. Much better than your current SAT score. I think you should focus on getting the ACT up a point or 2. You seem to do much better on that test, so foces there. ND likes the ACT. Plus, you can send only one score...your best!

i agree with bus... but i'm biased because the SAT was the most miserable 4 hours of my life, and i wouldn't take it again if they paid me

I think:

that at this point, forget about the SAT. The difference between the scores is pretty large, meaning that the ACT just "fits" you better. Id take the ACT one more time just to see if you can do any better, and if not then no big deal because you already have a great score.

Good luck

that's a poor SAT score for ND. they accept ACT scores, but usually closer to 36. Take them both again, it can't hurt. But a 580 CR to the top schools makes you seem "illiterate". My friend who had a 4.0 couldn't get in anywhere better than Wake Forest with a 580CR. It's called CRITICAL reading for a reason.

Not trying to be mean, but he was actually called "illiterate", in a joking manner of course.

OMG

not you again

Your 580 does not make you illiterate in any sense. ND's average ACT score is just above a 32, so IMO your standardized test scores are fine. They wont keep you out of ND, yet they wont guarantee admission either.

"illiterate"? i think we would all be a lot happier if you just didn't post anymore... 580 is not bad especially if you look at your percentile. Will it hurt you in applying to ND? yes, that is why you are going to work to get that up or to get a higher ACT (even though your 32 is already fantastic)

good luck

thanks for all the replys but my only problem with taking the ACT again is finding a test date

During sept+oct i have football games on saturdays and during dec i have wrestling tournaments

Right now id probly do the december date but will the scores be sent to ND in time

do u guys play on saturdays? we would play on friday nights and my coach allowed me to watch film on my own because that's what i missed saturday morning... you can't miss any of it for your ACT? my coaches always preach "school comes first"

You guys play your games on Saturdays?
-interesting

Check w/ the website to see if you can take the December test... most schools are fine with it but Id check just to make sure.

there are non-saturday test dates also, but they are usually for people whose religious obligations do not allow them to test on saturdays.

yeah we play on Saturdays because our home field doesn't have lights
but i still wouldn't want to take the ACT the morning after a football game, So I think my best bet is to take it during December. I would rather miss a wrestling tournament rather than a football game. I just hope that the scores would be done in time.

All in all, you guys seem to think i should just say screw the SAT, but I think I could really improve the CR with some prep.

On the other hand i could try to prep some more for the ACT and get the 32 up to around a 34.

definitely ACT and i'm almost positive they'll still accept it EA i remember they accepted really late ones--call and ask!!! best to get your name in their records ASAP
