Testing during orientation & CLEPs

Can you take language placement tests during orientation even if you didn't sign up for them online? When I was signing up for orientation, I opted not to take the French exam because I thought that I wouldn't do very well. However, I'm kind of regretting that decision now. Is it possible for me to sign up during check in or something?

Also, I'm curious about UT's CLEP testing. I'm interested in taking the CLEP for Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, and American Government. Are these tests very hard? Are they comparable to the AP exams? Should I (or am I even allowed to) take more than 1 test per sitting or should I spread them out throughout the months / years?

I'm a very confused soon-to-be freshman, so I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks :).

You are able to edit your registration for orientation and add in the French Exam. I’m pretty sure doing so will not affect or change the date you have registered for (not that I have tried, but I’m ALMOST 100% positive). All you have to do is logon to your ut eid, go to the orientation registration page, and click the “change registration.” From there a new page will pop up that will allow you to check and sign up for the French Exam.(:

I’m going to be a freshman next year too so I don’t really know anything about the CLEP exams.

I am pretty sure you can take the CLEP exams anytime. My son is a junior and is going to test out of English and Government.

Thanks for the quick responses everyone!
