Testing is my bane...

I’ve taken the SAT three times.

M- 720, CR-710, W-650

M-690, CR-720, W- 730

M- 710, CR- 670, W- 730

As yyou can see…despite studying hard and stuff I have always walked away from a testing with one category improved by 10-20 points and one category tanked from the last testing.

I can’tbeleive I got a 670 on the CR for this test. It’s really uncharacteristic of me. Do you think this set of scores just looks bad? I don’t even know what to say about this. My superscore is fine…2170, but when you look at all 3 together and you see those 600s every time, it just doesn’t sit right. I need an opinion on this. I have already applied ED. Should I mention something about my scores to them?

I went to a program at Columbia and one of the admissions officers told us that they have a program that pulls out the highest score from each section, and that's what they see. They don't really care about the other scores, so I wouldn't worry about it.

^^Do they do the same for students who have taken the ACT?

^Well for the ACT they take the highest composite score.

And OP, don't worry about it at all. The only time they care about lower scores is if there's a clear pattern of you only focusing on one section each time (like 500-500-800). Since that's obviously not the case, all they'll consider is the 2170.

i feel like they say they'll consider the top score only to increase their final tally count so people will think that they get higher testers admitted.
