My HS does not rank, but next to my Class Rank, it says (First Quarter), but my HS in NY does not rank? So I am confused!

Even if your school does not rank, TAMU will ask for grade distribution from the school and will estimate which quarter you’d fall into. First quarter … hooray!

Now, did you achieve a combined SAT Math and SAT Critical Reading score of at least 1300 with a test score of at least 600 in each of these components; or achieve a composite ACT score of at least 30 with a test score of at least 27 in ACT Math and ACT English?

Or, are you pretty close. If so, I’d say your chances are pretty good of getting in. Best wishes.

Eaglemom, my SAT is horrible

1250, 590 CR and 660 Math

I truly wish I studied harder for it, because my SAT has limited me. My gpa and ap’s and ec’s would be fine, with my SAT killing me!!

@Ksyschic: your SAT, while not in “auto-admit” range, is not horrible and is above the TAMU average for prior years. For SAT score, TAMU is a “match” for you.

From TAMUs website: “The average SAT and ACT scores of the incoming fall freshmen class were: 1210 (Verbal + Math) SAT; 26 ACT composite.”

*NOTE: I’m not an auto-admit. Although I am in the top 8%, I did not graduate from a TX high school, so I am an ‘academic admit’ (can’t remember the exact term that is used) and my file was reviewed in its entirety because the top 8% rule does not apply to me.

Comments: I’m an established Texas resident, so TAMU is one of my ‘state’ schools even though I don’t live in Texas, so I’m happy with the acceptance. I missed the scholarship deadline though because I had no idea that it was so early. I thought all state schools around the US had rolling admissions and that the earliest deadlines were on January 1st, but I was mistaken and have to pay the price.

Congrats to others who got in and even if you didn’t, Texas has so many great schools. I’m sure everyone will be happy somewhere. I can’t express how happy I am to be a Texas resident; the state is essentially its own country!

I like TAMU but I read that the opportunities for premeds (research, etc.) aren’t too great, so I’m a little hesitant. I plan on asking others on this forum and maybe even emailing people at TAMU and getting more information. If anyone reading this has more insight PM me. I’m always looking for more info. about TAMU! (Visiting isn’t a viable option)

@ViggyRam: Have you looked here? [Honors Program](http://honors.tamu.edu/research/index.html)

There is an office of Undergraduate Research (UGR). Hope this is helpful.

When did you apply to Texas A&M? Middle of October
What is your prospective major? Business
What is the status of your application? Accepted to Mays and Business Honors

Wait, eaglemom10 or anyone who knows, how do you get into Honors at TAMU? Do you apply for it after you are admitted or when you apply because I don’t think I saw that option when I applied? That sounds really great and I’m interested.

Honors is not a formal program at TAMU like at other schools. If you meet the criteria, you can participate. There is a place on the ApplyTexas app to check if you are interested in Business Honors, and you must meet certain criteria. The deadline to indicate interest, if you did not do so on the ApplyTexas app, was Feb. 1.
