Will definitely check it out! Thanks for the tip! We are thinking a long weekend after NSC. He scheduled his for 6/22.
Hi Christi! I would love talk about advice / suggestions on options - my son got PSA and trying to decide what to do from here…not leaning toward PSA but either straight transfer or PTA, depending on major (originally wanted business). I have a few thoughts but wanted to get your opinions if possible! thank you!
I private messaged you. Happy to help.
You forgot TCU
Sure did. Go Frogs!
Consider Galveston campus. Deadline to apply is May 1
I would love the same advice for my daughter who received PSA. Could she possibly transfer in the spring of 2023. She is a commications major. She has several hours from dual credit and AP classes. Thank you!
Message me. Happy to help. Let me know dual credit courses and grade (don’t need to know AP credit).

Hey y’all… if you’re doing PTA and thus going to junior college… be sure you look at the course term. Many junior colleges are doing 2 8 week terms in the fall and then again in the spring. Do not take More than 6-9 credits (1-3 classes) per term. 12-18 in fall then again in spring.
Also for PTA… if you are going to Lone Star college or any juco just for summer credit… that requires a freshman orientation course, you can most likely get it waived if you are attending blinn in the fall. You’ll need to contact a juco advisor and then let them know you’re just taking a couple of credits to get a jump start. They’ll need your fall schedule from blinn and then should wave the required course. It’ll save quite a bit of money.
Always ask the question if something doesn’t make sense.
TCC requires a freshman orientation course. They also required a group advising session which my daughter did recently. They also require their own MPE and won’t accept or waive it based on A&M’s MPE. My daughter is just going to take calc online from TCC Connect while she is enrolled and attending A&M college station and then physics next summer on tcc campus when home for break. So she has to do group advising session, freshman orientation course, and an MPE just to take calc and physics and transfer it to A&M. And she was a dual credit student so she is already established at TCC and has credits there. But they require it for all college freshman even if they were dual credit students. It’s not as easy as just registering for a course.
@martinezcs has she thought about taking it somewhere else? That’s crazy. We are out of district for any school, so I have one child who takes classes at LoneStar, my Aggie is getting ready to take her 2nd summer class (online) at Texarkana College. No issues or hoops to jump thru at either school, like you’re describing, very easy registration.
Most juco/cc are very reasonable, price wise-some more than others. Just avoid Blinn, it is outrageously expensive.
I understand. Just saying it’s worth the ask because it makes no sense. I wouldn’t take extra courses and pay extra money to take a 3 credit course. I understand taking math placement if taking math course there but not having to take extra courses.
You’re better off taking it at blinn. Just again don’t just take it at face value. Ask the questions and pivot juco if necessary for those fill in classes.
@52ag82 It doesn’t cost extra money. The freshman orientation class is just a few hours online one day and free. The group advising session was an hour or two via zoom. Our in county CC is TCC (and I work there). So tuition is only $64/credit because we are in county. Really just a minor hassle.
She actually just got inducted into PTK, the national honor society for community colleges, at their local chapter on campus last week.
Oh that makes total sense then. Lone stars is a 3 credit graded class per one of the moms. Total money grab.
Thanks for the info.
Fantastic price!!
Collin County folks, graduating HS seniors can get up to 6 credit hours free tuition at Collin College for this summer only. It’s their effort to “reverse the slide” due to the pandemic. Limited time offer.
Does anyone know if it is too late to apply to be considered for Mays? I remember reading that you had to be one of the first 1,000 to apply to get accepted for May’s, is that wrong? Any advice would be appreciated. We are out of state.
Need more info. What are your stats? It’s not the first 1000 to apply, it’s the first 1000 that get accepted.
Came across this thread after UT cap offer yesterday. Can you explain more why you do not see cap as a sincere pathway to admission?
