Hey! I was admitted to UT for my first major but I just checked my admission status & found out that my major was changed into “Texas Interdisciplinary Plan”. Is there such thing as TIP Major? I did not change my major after I was admitted but why is my major being changed by itself? Also, when can I change it back to the major that I was admitted into the first place? I never received any emails for my major change. So if anyone knows about how TIP works, please inform me. Thanks!
TIP is a program for Natural Sciences students that serves as your first year learning community. It has reserved classes and other support services. Your major is still the one you applied for, but TIP has updated their new students’ records. (And if you didn’t know you were in TIP, be sure to check your spam folders).
@Longhorns061012 I’m aware that I’m in TIP, but just not aware that my major changed. Thank you for clearing things up!
Longhorns061012 is correct. Besides what he has told you, I just want to tell you that TIP is a perfect environment for new students because it puts you in a small group(on average 5 people) where you will get to known some people quickly in a such enormous university and I am pretty sure that some of them will be your buddies in the next 4 years. And you are going to get a mentor, who is usually a sophomore student and that person will hold a weekly group meeting and an individual meeting for every other week. Hope this provides you some extra information… and good luck!
