Hi!!
I’ve already applied to Texas State as a biology major. I’ve tried to do some research online, but haven’t been able to find out much about what being a pre med is like at TxSt?? If any of you have any knowlege/experiences, please share!! Thank you!!
Most don’t make it. You don’t get a premed advisor for a while because so many get weeded out. There’ll be a Pre-health session during orientation- go, take notes, pay heed. Also, if you can be in a quiet dorm, substance-free dorm, or (better) if you qualify for Honors College and Honors dorm, do that. You’ll need that (quiet, studious environment, peer support) to have a shot.
Also, I’d advise you switch out of biology, which has one of the worst ROI of all majors. Look at ALL majors offered - any major can support a premed so pick one with better prospects.
I know one pre-med student at Texas State. She is a good but not great student. I don’t expect her to make MED school but I am not the one to shatter her dreams. I have no idea what your stats so I cannot comment on you. I will say the wash out rate with students going the pre-med route is pretty high. Again this may not apply to you at all but it is just a general observation.
