Texas Tech Business or UT Austin Econ....???

I'm just really confused right now, I did my first two years of basics and now applied to both these schools. I want to do Economics if I go to UT Austin since their Mccombs business school is really competitive. Heard they were 25th in Econ. Back in 09 but not sure what it is now. Why is Econ part of Liberal Arts? I thought it was a science...?(UT Austin). If I go to Tech than I might do MIS but again, their business school isn't that great. What I ultimetly want is a school who help me find a good paying job. My GPA is a 3.6 currently (with 52 hours of credit.) So, how's UT's Econ. Department? I LOVE economics! But only the theoretical part of it. And MIS mixes my two favorite subject, Business and Technology. Which school is best for these two degrees...? PLEASE, NEED SOME ASSISTANCE!

Texas Tech Business Overall: 101
UT Overall: 7

Let me put it this way. When youre looking for a job in texas youll be competing with all of the other texas schools. If two guys are interviewing for a job one from UT with a 3.0 and one from tech with a 4.0, i guarantee you the UT guy will get the job. Also outside of texas like in the northeast, Texas is well known, Tech isnt known at all.

I disagree I think choice of major matters alot more than school and any experience you garnered while in school.

As someone who hires college graduates I can honestly say I don’t really care what school I care that you have the basic credentials can speack intelligently to questions about your filed and have experience in some form or fashion

If you major in romance poetry or something as equally esoteric you won’t get hired no matter where you went to school since you have no marketable skills

I think either major will serve you well Pick what is your passion that you can get a paycheck for

What’s the job outlook for MIS? I checked BLS.GOV and it only has computer information systems. What’s the difference between the two?
