Do I have no other choice other than buying new versions of these textbooks from the campus store? :/.

Also, by the way, the move in day for dorms is the 22nd. Do classes start the day right after? I've got a Discussion class on Monday but I don't have the Lecture class for that discussion class til thursday. How does that even work out? Do I even go to the Discussion class since I don't have the Lecture class before it?

The reason you can’t look up the isbn for these classes is because these numbers aren’t linked to the actual books; they’re linked to custom packages. On the first day of lecture the professors will tell you the titles/isbns of the book you need. I don’t know about BUS 20, but if CS8 is anything like it was last year, the books (lab manual and textbook) are really cheap. I rented and shared the lab manual with a friend for about $10 and didn’t get the textbook. The textbook isn’t necessary at all because most people can get an A without it.

Classes start on Thursday, the 26th. Move-in day up until the 26th is filled with welcome activities.

oh thanks! so don’t buy txtbooks before classes start. buy em after the first day when your professors let you know what they are? Good to know, thanks.

just wondering though, where do most people rent &/ buy their books from? Besides from other students, that is.

Yeah, definitely wait to see what your professors say. A lot of the time textbooks aren’t really mandatory to do well.

Most people I know buy/rent from Amazon or Chegg. You just have to find who has it cheaper, which is really helpful with SlugBooks. All you have to do is plug in the isbn or title and it gives you the cheapest prices for all the textbook websites.

It really depends on the class and professor. They may or may not assign reading the first week and if they do, they might just give you a light reading load. Some professors will post the first readings to ilearn which can be really helpful and some also put the book on reserve in the library for students who need it. They’re pretty lenient during the first week or so of the quarter.
