Textbook Question

Hey guys. So I'm an incoming freshman and had a quick question about buying textbooks.

How accurate are the book requirements on ISIS?

At preview they told us that we should wait for our profs to tell us exactly what we need instead of jumping the gun and buying all the books ahead of time, just in case we buy something we don't need. But it seems like everyone is getting them now and i don't want to get stuck without books cause they're all out. Any suggestions?

I understand where you’re coming from, I felt the same way last year. The best thing to do is email your professors to get exactly what books you need and what editions because sometimes professors might want older editions. The reason you’re advised to not get books before the first day of class is because you might get to class, and discover that the class you signed up for isn’t what you thought it would be, or it might harder than you thought and you might not want to take that class, and if you don’t have books then you have no financial obligations to stay in that class.

It also depends on the class. For math and science classes, it seems professors go by the isis books.

Gotcha. So i guess just email profs or go by isis and pray for the best lol. Thanks guys.

The bookstore is very good about taking returns too if you end up not needing the books. There is just a date you have to do it by, probably close to the end of add/drop.

You can save so much by buying your books on Half.com and Amazon.com, however so many teachers have customized versions that you can’t get anywhere except for the bookstore.
