Where are we supposed to find info on the textbooks required in general? some courses don't have home pages..

don’t worry until school starts. sometimes the bookstore says you need the book/reader, sometimes you’ll never use them.

Student bookstore and Ned’s Bookstore will have the books you need listed on their website.

88888888 brings up a wonderful point though. My first semester a bought a companion book to my precalculus book that the bookstore said was recommended. I never actually used it, and when someone else asked the professor about it they said they had never heard of the recommended resource. So the bottom line is, you can buy the strictly required stuff before class starts, but ask your professor before buying anything else.

Oh, and one more thing, make sure that there isn’t a much cheaper online version of the book before you buy it. The bookstore probably won’t offer it to you even if there is.

Some of the more popular/larger classes will have websites up. If you can get a copy of the syllabus from online, that will tell you exactly what books you will need.

^
yea a lot of times NEW books on half.com or amazon are CHEAPER than used ones that Neds or cal bookstore sells.

^
Agreed. Definitely go to Half.com unless you want to spend hundreds upon thousands of dollars each semester.
