What are the introductory textbooks of the classes freshmen will be taking? Will they send a list to us before school starts? (so you can buy them on the cheap, or mooch them off other people)

The main one you need to worry about it Silberberg for Chemistry. It has a purplish cover. That is if they use the same text this year. It can be a real ***** to find cheaply.

The others might vary what with new editions and all coming out. I might suggest waiting until school starts to find out what books you need, while mooching off upperclassman for the first few weeks when possible.

I second Seiken--wait till you get onto campus, then order. S1 managed to get all of his books for last year (and several for upcoming soph year) for a grand total of less than $250. The turnaround on used book purchase on the net is not bad when you are shipping to LA area.

...dude are you serious, Silberberg is my high school Honors Chem textbook, lol. wow man if i'd known that i would've just gone to my high school and taken one out on a loan with a deposit. too bad i can't do that now, oh well.

thanks for the info guys, i'll wait until school starts.

Silberberg is a solid reference - it might be worth it to buy a copy to own. Considering the prices on amazon, you might want to purchase one around now since the cheapest ones will be sold once school starts. Last fall it was almost impossible to find a copy off campus for less than 100$. However, this price drop could be caused by a new edition coming out as well. In that case you might be gambling with purchasing the wrong edition; though i think you would still be able to get by with it (We didnt need the newest edition in Biology).
