When is a good time to buy them? What are some good places to get them?

before your classes start

wherever they're sold...

ok, sorry. when is iffy, depends on what your books are and how common they are. where: use ucla bookstore as a last resort. convenient, but overpriced. buy online secondhand, or from other students. then sell online when you're done for as much or more than you paid, so you don't lose money. never buy from ucla and sell back to ucla- you will lose SO much money!

what are the summer hours for ucla txtbk store? i wanna get mine once it opens tmro b4 i go to class (to read my hw haha). 9am during the school year..now i assume it opens @ the same time or later?

do you know any sites that students can use for easy selling and buying books?

amazon is my favorite.

Off topic, but how long is the line if I choose to go with the "last resort"?

i look at half.com and amazon first, then to some other places for international versions...

even if the line's long, it moves pretty quickly.

im more looking to sell my books so hopefully selling within ucla would be the best...

err i'll just go at 9am tmro..

anyways anyone have physics 6A book that they are willing to sell cheap? same w/ ls 3?

I sell my used books on half.com. You'll be amazed at how fast they sell if you include solution manuals with them.

DWM, pick up the phone and call before you head over to Ackerman. Common sense.

For Math 32A, the textbook "required" is the 6th edition published in 2008. Because the publish date is 08, there isn't a used option available, and I can't find that book online other than at the UCLA store. Is it entirely necessary to get the 08 version? Or can I go for past versions like the 07 one?

Is $138.70 a good amount to spend on two classes (4W and HMT)? That's the bookstore price, and the most expensive book is $18.00 new.

When will Chem 20A textbook be updated on UCLA store?? I'm not seeing any textbook on the site.

HMT is a total biotch when it comes to buying books. because there are so many of them, they aren't expensive individually, and the ucla store has all of them, it is very tempting to buy them all from UCLA.

only do this if you don't mind paying through the nose, and if you don't mind the fact that you will get next to nothing when you sell them back later.

i suggest either: buying them from other places on your own (IF you can find them cheap enough to make up for the shipping), OR buying them all from UCLA AND THEN KEEPING THEM A YEAR TO SELL TO NEXT YEAR'S CLUSTER STUDENTS. the books do not change drastically. want proof? send me your reading list and i'll tell you what i read two years ago. you will make SO much more money selling to another student than selling back to UCLA. do this with the fall and winter books and some lucky, lucky student next year will be kissing your feet ;)

they should update the textbook list soon, at least they'll still update it because all 4 of my classes haven't posted text book yet... btw KJSLyfe67, I have the chem 20A book (with practice booklet and solutions and all that) if you are interested, or anyone in that matter, pm me i'll sell for like half price or something since im done with the chem series

how about buying from sellers on bruinwalk? is that good? i still haven't gotten my books yet. i get financial aid, so should i wait until the money is disbursed first then buy them?

Buy now before prices go up. You actually missed the optimal time to buy textbooks, now that some schools have started.

Bruinwalk is usually safe .. requires good communication and meeting up.

where do i check 3which books i need...i know i've been to a place where itsays thebooks i need once but i cant find it anymore
