hi everyone im just curious when should we start ordering/buying our textbooks for our fall classes??

I am curious too…

I guess you can begin buying books after you have a permanent schedule and the wait list problem is no longer a factor, but I am unsure.

I purchased mine online the day I signed up for my classes. I also purchased the chem 6a book even though I waitlisted as #2. I’d say buy them now if you’re pretty confident you’ll get into the class.

You can pretty much buy them whenever you want.

Yep^ But just make sure they’re right ones ;)

Chemistry lover how did you get your chemistry book?

Just remember, it is always cheaper to buy books online.

Bigwords.com is amazing

probably as soon as you have a permanent schedule
but does anyone know if i should buy international versions of the books or not?
O.o
they keep popping up when i search for my textbooks

No I mean where did she get the Chem 6A book (Chemistry Lover) because it’s a UCSD custom

I didn’t but the actual textbook because it’s “custom” but I bought the solution manual and study guide at textbooks.com

Can anybody tell me what classes I don’t really need books for (whether the teachers don’t even use them or they use them so rarely that I can rent it from the ucsd library):

Math 20C
Cse 8a
WCWP 10A
Music 114 (waitlisted #6 out of 150 seats btw )

Do these classes too.
Math20BA
Chem6A

I’m pretty sure you’ll need your books for WCWP10A though (:

You don’t need the study guides or solution manuals for ANY of your classes. Just check out one from the library or borrow a friend’s, and take pictures of the pages you need. Takes 10 minutes, and you save yourself $$$. (and possibly make yourself new friends in the process if you share)

You DEFINITELY need to buy a brand new reader from the bookstore for Warren Writing.

@KingsElite: What do you mean by reader? The 3 books that they listed for warren writing is Self & Society, Connected (already have that from summer reading), and Rulebook for Arguments.

And I was looking that the list for math 20C, and there’s like a bunch of different books and some just seem like diff versions of the same thing O.O. It’s so confusing…which one do I need? (I know I don’t need study guides or solution manuals now thanks to astrina but, I meant the regular textbooks for math).

A custom reader is a UCSD-specific textbook that you won’t be able to find online most of the time. For WCWP10A its like a journal.

If anyone else has bookstore-related questions, feel free to ask; I work there.

hey if i’m gonna be enrolled in Warren writing in the winter quarter, do i still need to read the book Connected?

so for math 10c
theres 2 Required books (but they seem to be very similar)
which one do i need to buy?

what does it mean when UCSD says that texts will be sold through URPS?
